A Message from Your Daughter
Mommy,
As I drove around Atlanta, I contemplated what words I would write to you. I had so many thoughts, but nothing seemed perfect enough for you, my newest Angel. You gave me life. You taught me how to be kind, caring, and compassionate. You showed me the real meaning of a mother's unconditional love. You loved me when I felt I was unlovable. You believed in me, my dreams and my future. You spoke life to the 'dry bones' situations in my life. You prayed for me without ceasing. You encouraged me to be better than my best, while still accepting me as your first perfect creation . And for all of these things I am so thankful.
Mommy, you shared with me 33 years of spoken and unspoken wisdom that will carry me the rest of my lifetime. I am heartbroken that I can no longer pick up the phone and call to hear your voice, but I am thankful that I remember key phrases from you. All week I have recited, "It's going to be all right." You must have said that phrase a thousand times to remind me that no matter what happens in life everything is going to be all right. It amazes me that now as you have entered the great cloud of witnesses; it has been the phrase that has allowed me to keep going each day. My life has been amazing because of you . Thank you for every sacrifice, My Angel My Love, My Mommy! - Tiffanie
A Message from Your Son
My mom, my best friend, my everything. As I sit and think of all the wonderful things you have done the one thing that just sticks out to me is the fact that you, mommy, were always there for me, daddy, Tiffanie, or anyone else who came into your presence. Your Beautiful spirit was so uplifting and so amazing that any and everyone who met you instantly fell in love with you. Your love for the Lord was astonishing. I can remember the time you wanted nothing more than to speak God's language that only a select few devoted Christians could do and that was to speak in tongues. You prayed and prayed and prayed until one day you spoke to Sheryl about it and she came to the house and prayed for about forty five minutes, during that prayer you began to speak in tongues. You were so over joyed with excitement and I had not yet understood why until just now. You my sweet and beautiful mother are an angel from God . May you continue to live on through me, your musically talented son, your caring and intelligent daughter Tiffanie, your most helpful grandson Kaiden, and your wonderful and loving husband John. You loved Amberly like she was your own and shared with her and connected with her on many levels . May you continue to live on through her as well Th is is not farewel l or goodbye, this is a see you later. I will always love and cherish you in more ways than we can express! I love you, Beauty Number One. - Justin

A Time To Be Born
Barbara "Jean" King Postell was born on March 19, 1959 in Americus, Georgia to the late Leartis King and George Merritt, Sr. Jean, as she was affectionately known, was educated in the Americus
City School System and graduated from Americus High School in 1977.
A Time To Live
On October 15, 1978, Barbara married her high school sweetheart, John H. Postell and to this union two children were born, Tiffanie and Justin. Barbara has always been actively involved in church since joining Campbell Chapel AME Church in Americus, Georgia. The Postells relocated to Atlanta, Georgia in 1987 and have been dedicated members of Ben Hill United Methodist Church. She served faithfully and passionately for over 25 years. Barbara's smile, love, and Christian demeanor endeared her to many as she worked diligently with Girl's R.I.S.E., Missions Ministry, Prayer Ministry, the Wedding Ministry, Sunday School, United Methodist Women and W.I.S.E. Bible Study. Intercessory prayer became a staple of her life as family and friends would call her to pray for them and their families. In the last five years she travelled on mission trips with Ben Hill U.M.C. to Haiti and with Caedel Medical group to Jamaica. Her love for the Lord has always been shown in her prayers for God's people.
Barbara centered her life around her family, church and profession, serving over 10 years at Bank of America. Throughout her children's lives, Barbara was their biggest supporter, encouraging them every step of the way. From planning family reunions to hosting holiday dinners, she took great pride in bringing her family together. She was a servant leader who worked tirelessly in the community especially with the March of Dimes, an organization that was near and dear to her heart. Jean was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend to many. She always had kind and encouraging words to share and possessed an unshakable trust in the Lord. And, she let her life tell you about the God she served and trusted.
A Time To Rest
Jean departed her life peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2014. She was preceded in death by her oldest sister, Beatrice Brown, who was like a mother to her and her sister-in-law, Annie Ruth Postell both of Americus, Georgia. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted husband of nearly 36 years, John H. Postell; her children, Tiffanie Certrina Postell of Wilmington, North Carolina and Justin Tyler Postell (Amberly) of Riverdale, Georgia; her grandson, Kaiden Anthony Postell of Riverdale, Georgia; five sisters, Doris Furlow (Charles), Sharian King, Nandine Wilkerson, Diane Smith (William) all of Americus, Georgia and Willie Be Merritt of Chicago, Illinois; three brothers, Arthur King (Jackie) of Atlanta, Georgia, Malcolm King (Janet) of Americus, Georgia and Clyde Merritt (Bertha) of Chicago, Illinois; one aunt, Rosie Anderson of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; a dearly devoted cousin, Emma Kate Lowe of Americus, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, great and grand nieces and nephews, and cousins. Four special adopted sisters of over 40 years, Gloria Jackson (J.B.) of Columbus, Georgia, Belinda Ware (Larry) and Sheryl Stiles both of Atlanta, Georgia and Ernestine Dixon of Orlando, Florida as well as other extended family and friends.
