Time to be born: Lucile Porter was born to the late, Mr. Ernest Smith and Mrs. Ina Kate Maddox Smith. on January 18, 1941 in Athens, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Mrs . Ida Mae Peppers and Mrs. Ida Kate Davis; five brothers, Misters Ernest Smith Jr. , Charlie Smith, Ernest Smith III, Bobby Smith, and Willie Earl Smith. She and her siblings shared a special bond.

Time of Education: Lucile graduated from Athens & Industrial High School in 1960. During her youth, she confessed her faith in Jesus Christ.

Time of Marriage: Lucile was united in the bond of Holy Matrimony to Mr. Arthur Porter November 20, 1971. She was a loving, supportive, and caring wife, grandmother and mother.

Time to Work: For many years, Lucile was a devoted employee at Prager Brush. She had a special love for children, after retiring she kept children in her home for over 25 years.

Time to Give of One' s Self: She was a devoted member of Bible Way COGIC until medically unable to attend. Lucile was known for her big smile with which she greeted everyone. She had a compassionate huge heart and gave of herself unselfishly. Lucile loved working in her garden, watching soap opera, taking care of her flowers and doing cross word puzzles. Lucile was wonderful in every way to her family and friends. Her presence, special qualities, and life contributions to everyone will be missed but never
forgotten.

Time of Transition: "When Peace like a river attendeth my way... .It is well, it is well with my soul." Amen. Lucile moved to her eternal home one Sunday, June 17, 2012 after a short admission at DeKalb Medical Center.

Time to Remember : Those left to rejoice in her unselfish life are her loving family, husband, Mr. Arthur Porter; loving daughter, Ms. Kara Houston, of Decatur; three sons, Misters John Houston, Arthur Porter Jr. , and Etheyele Porter all of Decatur; four grandchildren, Jalisah, Mia, Artie, and Jakari; five sisters, Ms. Marrie Cochran of Los Angeles, CA; Ms. Ethel Harris of Baltimore, MD; Mrs. Hattie (Charles) Skipper of Gettysburg, PA; Ms. Martha Smith of Athens, GA.; Mrs. Lessie Ree Henson of Pittsburg PA. ; brother, Mr. Henry Smith of Amsterdam Holland ; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Janie (Rufus) Harmon, Mrs. Ethel Rine (Ray) Singleton of Decatur, Georgia; brother-in-law Mr. Samuel Porter all of Decatur, Georgia; very dear friends Mr. John (Emma) Gray and Ms. Helen Manuel, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
