God's gift to us, Lula Bryant Pittman was born on January 18, 1917 to her proud
parents Horace and Mary Bryant in Henry County, Georgia. She was the fifth of nine children.
She made her commitment to the Lord at an early age and joined Red Oak United Methodist Church. Later in life, she became a beloved member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church where she passionately served on the Mother Ministry, Mission Ministry and Sunday School.
Lula found the love of her life Leroy Pittman and joined him in Holy Matrimony July 30, 1938. Through this union, nine beautiful children were born in a marriage that would grow for
sixty-two (62) years.
The sun did set on the life of her true love Leroy Pittman in December 1990. Lula alone would continue to love this family until God would call her home on Thursday January 13,
2005.
Lula leaves to cherish her memory: nine children, Charlie (Earnestine) Pittman, Willie (Mary) Pittman, Alice Pye, Eula (Randall) Ponder, Lorenzo (Rachel) Pittman, Homer (Martha Jane) Pittman, Dorothy (Frank) Williams, Robert Pittman, and Randolph Pittman; twenty-seven (27) grandchildren; thirty-six (36) great grandchildren; three (3) sisters; Ruth Arney of Cleveland, Ohio, Rosa Atkins of Jonesboro, Georgia, and Catherine Norwood of Forest Park, Georgia; twelve (12) in-laws; Leola Bryant, David (Doris) Pittman, Mattie Pittman, Claudia (Pink) Hunt, Doris (Andrew) Lemon, Annie Bell (Willie) Finch, Ruby Kate Pittman, and Reverend Homer Pittman; a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
Alive Again
I've fought this battle long and hard Trying to be there just for you, But there comes a time when I must let go For I've fought my whole life through
I tried to teach you all I knew To help you through this life And I tried to teach you all I learned To ease your stress and strife
It's time for me to let you go And see ifyou can fly I gave you wings - it's up to you My end down here is nigh
Be strong my children as I have been To encou.rage you in my day My leaving may be hardfor you
But I'm ready to go away
You see, God has called me to my rest My work down here is done You must carry on the work set forth So the victory can be won
Live your life as ifI'm watching My spirit will live through you
Love and honor your family in Christ
Let the spirit ofChrist shine through
This glad morning, I've made it home
To my mansion in the sky
My praise on earth was goodfor here But in heaven I came alive!
