'""Obituary--
Mary Jane Tucker Phillips, born in Dacula, GA on November 26, 1941 , was called to Heaven on Friday, May 16, 2008 in Duluth, GA. She spent most of her early years in Roswell , GA and moved to Alpharetta, GA 17 years ago. She attended the Bailey Johnson School in Alpharetta and Washington High School in Atlanta. She married Horace Phillips and together they became the parents of three sons and one daughter.
She was a dedicated worker all of her life spending years at G.E. and Lockheed and was currently employed by Fulton County as a School Bus Driver. Her coworkers on the job became her friends and they gave her new names, Mary, Mary Jane, Janie and today many of them are sharing this moment with her family and childhood friends that have known her all of their lives as JANE.
Her love of church led her to the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church of Roswell, GA and eventually she became of member ofthe Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Roswell, GAin the early 1980's. For many years, she was a member and Past President of the Sanctuary Choir, the Twelve Keys, the Pastor's Aide and the Kitchen Ministry of Zion. She loved working in her church no matter what the task was, she gave her best.
But her greatest love, was her family. She spent her entire life loving and taking care of those she loved most. Her sisters and brothers were special to her, she was their Big Sister, always in charge. Her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren became her life and kept her young forever. She shared her all with them no matter where they were or what they were involved in she was always there to give them the direction and support that they needed. They call her Mama , GrandmaJane and even GrandmaYangYang, running all the syllables together as one word.
Her mother, Willie Mae Tucker, preceded her in death several years ago and her dear grandson, Devin Taylor Phillips, recently said his farewell. She was okay with leaving this place, confident that her family would be just fine with the many cherished memories. She will be missed by her sons & their wives Leonard (Rhonda), Tony (Deborah), Craig (Rita); her daughter and very best friend, Stacey; her grandchildren, Jermaine, Victoria, Cachea, Candace & Kayla; her great-grandchildren, Jordan, Jada and Dontavius; her father, Jack; brothers, Almond and Larry & their spouses; sisters, Patricia, Lanelle, Rosa, & Deborah; aunts, Abbie & Ethel; uncles, Elroy, Leroy, Samuel & William; nieces, nephews & their spouses; great nieces and nephews; cousins, in-laws, childhood, friends, co-workers, neighbors, and Church Family.
Together all of you make up Team Phillips. So just Praise Him, and Give Him Glory,
For This Is My Day and I am Heaven Bound!
IWIN!
