Jesus Loves Me, This I Know ... To Him I Now Belongl

As my body lies here, it is only a shell, For God has called me home, And you've done your job well.
I am so happy and very content, And for things done wrong, I do repent.
I have no worries, pains or fears, I love you all, so dry your tears. I'm at rest now, so don't you dare cry, It will be much easier as time goes by.
And I will always be watching you from the sky!

On January 21, 1987, Stacey Phillips and her family welcomed Devin, their gift from God, into this world in Roswell, GA. The family moved to Alpharetta, GA in 1990 where he attended Dolvin Elementary School, Haynes Bridge and Taylor Road Middle Schools and Chattahoochee High School.
He loved his schools and participated in the Color Guard at CHHS receiving certificates of recognition for excellent performance. His picture is still on the walls of the school. He continued to pursue his love of this activity by accepting the position as Instructor of the Flag Corps at Shiloh High School, Lawrenceville, GA, and several High Schools in Metro Atlanta and Conyers, GA .
Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Roswell was the first church he attended and he made a decision to join Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Roswell under Watch Care.
Of his own life he wrote in his Journal: I'm very blessed to have been on this earth for 21 years and maybe 21 years was as long as I needed...I no longer fear death, because the Lord has my soul and I will be healed and recovered on the other side; that he had a close loving family especially his Mother, Sister and Grandma Jane; that he had adopted the entire Brookhollow Community into his family; that the nurses at Northside Hospital , Forsyth, had become family to him because of their loving care. He was in awe of just what was being done for him. And on March 7, 2008 he wrote this in his Journal :
Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, I Pray The Lord My Soul To Keep, If I Should Die Before I Wake, Please God, I beg my soul you take! Please! Father I know you are listening, if you are okay with the idea,
Please take me tonight! I would appreciate the gesture...anyway.
On Thursday afternoon, March 27, 2008 Devin's prayer was answered and today he bids farewell in his own unique way to: his mother, Stacey Phillips, his sister Kayla, his Grandma Jane, Uncles, Leonard, Tony, Craig and their families including 4 special cousins, Jermaine, Victoria, Cachea and Candace. Great aunts and uncles and their families; the Coker Family, beloved friends Brandon, Justin, Tiffany, and many others so dear to him.

For Him
We pause on this day, to think of blessings past, How the Lord has cared for our Devin, From his first day to his last.
We knew the road was rough and the hills were hard to climb, but when God showed up and closed his eyes, We know it was his time. To all who have been there with him and with us, To all who are here sharing this day with us, We thank you, we thank you for all you have done, And we thank God for you.
