On Friday, January 20, 2012 Mrs. Olivia Johnson Perry's name was called by Our Lord and Saviour. She was a native of Edenton, NC. Born to General Johnson and Sarah Fayton Johnson on October 15, 1927. Both whom preceded her.
Olivia attended Edenton School. After which she was united to William N. Hines (deceased). Through that union there were six .children. She later remarried to William W. Perry (deceased). In that union another child was adopted.
Olivia was a loving mother, a caring grandmother, a true friend and a child of God. She was such a fine lady. She knew no strangers. A smile greeted everyone she met. At an early age she joined Providence Missionary Baptist Church. Later Olivia became a member of Hawkins Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church. She was a faithful servant of God. Olivia served on the Usher Board, the Deaconess Board, a member ofthe Missionary Society, the Willing Workers Club, Choir and also as a Preacher's Steward. She was a member of several organizations, the V.F.W. and the Elks Oak Leaf Lodge. Olivia retired from Edenton Cotton Mills.
Olivia leaves to cherish her memory, seven children: Deloris Johnson ofGreenville, NC; Mary Embry ofGreensboro, NC; William Hines (Lisa) of Hampton, Va.; Johnny Hines of Edenton, NC; Alice Hines of Edenton, NC; Jacqueline H. Tisdale (Bobby) of Greensboro, NC; and William Perry of Edenton, NC; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and a very special friend, who was thought of as a daughter, Janet Hines. Also a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding death- two sisters, Mary Revelle and Annie Johnson Spruill.
