Join us as we celebrate the life of our loving Elder Leverne Parks, born September 4, 1941 to George and Laran Parks. He was raised in Atlanta by Laran and Leonard Shepherd. Because of complications at birth, he was l k flQt~xpected to live past the age of six, but God had another plan in store.
Booker T. Washington High School was where he thrived as a teenager. He wa.~ an aFt:ist who loved to draw. His draftsmanship was exemplary. He headed 3 .to ', Qhio State University to obtain an engineering degree. He used his creativity and draftsmanship to help design Atlanta's MARTA Rail System. As a young man, he exemplified leadership and served as a civil engineer at PBT Engineering Firm for twenty-five years of his career.
Leverne Parks had a personality for drawing lifelong relationships. As a son , husband, brother, friend , spiritual guide, and companion, he had his unique way of esteeming others higher than himself. What a remarkable disciple he was. As a child, he joined Zion Grove Baptist Church, where he was baptized . He later joined New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in the early 1980's. His love for God and his pastor, Bishop Eddie L. Long excelled in his works. Serving was his passion. He loved singing with the male chorus , in which he took much pride. He was ordained as a Deacon and served as Assistant Chairman of the New Birth's Deacon Board. He was the perfect person to head the Deacon's Training Ministry. He was later ordained an Elder. His service is infinite. His keen eye and wisdom were used in many facets of New Birth, including the Strategic Planning of the New Birth Cathedral.
Elder Leverne Parks had a magnetic attraction. His transparent smile and discerning spirit enabled one to open up and receive the love of Christ. He was spiritually gifted and could foresee the destiny and plan God had for one's life.
Standing in the mirror of his life is his Queen and loving wife, Dorothy A. Parks, along with his sister, Valencia Steed (Julius Steed); two stepsisters, Harriet Johnson and Cynthia Carlton (John Carlton); an adopted sister, Kaye Lovelace; son, D'Avante D.
