Mr. Merle James Oliver was born July 16, 1905 in Marion, Alabama to the late Charlie and Ella Cason Oliver.
He was united in holy matrimony to Thelma Coles on January 31, 1936. He was a member of St. Luke Baptist Church and was baptised in 1972.
Mr. Oliver served in the United States Army; and was head chef at Georgia Tech for eighteen years.
He departed th 1s life or. March 3, 1987 at Georgia Bapti :t Hospitai and leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Mrs. Thelma O!iv .,r; daughter, Mrs. Barbara Battle; sons, Messrs. Ambrose and Bennie Moses; sister and brotherin-law, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Cole; aunt, Mrs. Mary Brown; sister-in-law, Mrs. Clemmie Oliver; a host of grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
God saw the road was getting rough The hill was hard to climb;
He 15,ently closed those loving eyes Ana whispered HPeace Be Thine."
Th e weary hours, the daJ'S of pain T.he sleepless nights are passed. The ever-patient worn out frame Has found sweet rest at last.
