In Memoriam
Patricia Ann Nuckles was born March 8, 1957 at Ft. McPherson. Her early years were spent with her n1other, Annie B. Nuckles, and sister Priscilla in Vine City. At the age of 8, she and her family met Susie and Hector Black and their 3 daughters. She adopted the Black family and spent the next 10 years with them and, at the same time, kept in touch with her biological family.
In 1976, she graduated from Paulding County High School in Dallas, GA. She worked her way through college and graduated in 1983 from Fisk University in Nashville, an art major with highest honors. Continuing her education while working in the Public Library in Atlanta, she entered Atlanta University, graduating with a Master's Degree in Library Science.
As a librarian, her main interest was the welfare of children from backgrounds like her own. Trish began her association with Emmaus House in the 1980's. She was a staff member and later she joined the congregation and actively involved herself in the church and its programs. In 1993, she was able to buy a home on Campbellton Road.
She was a loving daughter and sister and a devoted aunt and godmother. Her family and friends will sorely miss her sharp sense of humor, her fierce loyalty and her mischievous smile.
