"She Was Different"
She was different, she was special Unique in a thousand ways, She was giving, she was loving, And we'll miss her all our days.
Her legacy was friendship She was so giving of her time, Her bequest was her faith in God, Her family, and all mankind.
She knew sorrow in great measure And was stung by illness, too. But neither could defeat her, Nothing her faith subdue.
And so instead of mourning As we remember her this hour, We really should be celebrating The blooming of a flower.
Because you see She was different, she was special Unique in a thousand ways. She was loving, she was giving And we'll miss her, miss her, all our days.

Officiating
By the infinite wisdom of God, it has pleased God to take another soul into rest. It would be an unwise thing to try to fathom the why's and how come's of God. Therefore, we pause today just to say thank you for this life that was planted in the midst of our life.
Dorothy Dixie Cook Nuckles' sunrise was October 26, 1917 to the late Frank and Marie Cook in Roswell, Milton County, Georgia. She was the third of four children to that union. She was educated in the public schools of
Milton County. Mother Nuckles joined Zion Missionary Baptist Church at an early age
and served faithfully and diligently until her health declined. As a member of Zion, she served in many capacities such as Sunday School Teacher, President of the Matrons Department, Missionary Society, Baptist Training Union (BTU) Teacher, a member of the Senior Choir, Mother's Board, Chairperson of Zion's History Committee and her personal favorite Zion's Welcome and Hospitality Committee. She was very active in the Hopewell Sunday School and BTU Association.
Mother Nuckles not only served her church with distinction and honor, but also her community. She served as a Den Mother to Boy Scout Troop 206 for fifteen years. This was the first Boy Scout Troop in North Fulton County that was founded by her father-in-law, the late Alexander Nuckles, Sr. This troop served African American males from the Sandy Springs, Roswell, Alpharetta, and Duluth communities. Dorothy was the first female to receive the distinguished "Silver Beaver" award for outstanding service with the Cub Scouts. Also, she was a member of Groveway Community Group, the Heroine of Jericho and the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) Post 7583 Ladies'
Auxiliary. She was united in holy matrimony to Alexander "Sudie" Nuckles, Jr. on
September 30, 1935. While her new husband was away serving in World War II, Dorothy graduated from the noted Madam C. J. Walker School of Beauty Culture in Chicago, Illinois.
The sunset for Dorothy Dixie Cook Nuckles on Sunday, August 3, 2003 was when she went home to spend eternity with the Lord. She leaves to celebrate her homegoing and cherish an abundance of precious memories to her loving devoted husband, Alexander Nuckles, Jr.; one daughter, Dorothy Renee Nuckles; one son, Tom Henry Bryant (Mary); seven grandchildren, Adrian L. Guest, Toconnicer Daretha Guest-Byrd, Taviana Desheia Frazier, Tommy Lee Bryant, Mercedes Gober (Tony), Wayman Bryant, and Tressa Banks (Walter); seven great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Mother Margaret Nuckles Washington, Mrs. Slety Randall, and Mother Lodie Cook; godgrandson, Charles "Charley" Manning Patterson; special granddaughter, Maria L. Griffith; special friend, Carla K. Brice; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
We loved her, yes we loved her. But the Angels loved her more; And God has sweetly called her to younder's peaceful shore. The Golden Gates were open and a gentle voice said come; Without a word spoken, she calmly
entered home.
