Alphonso Oswald Nuckles, the fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Nuckles, Sr., was born February 6, 1961 in Roswell, Georgia. As a young child he grew up in Roswell attending the public schools of Fulton County. He graduated from Roswell High School in 1979 and entered Shorter College, Rome Georgia on a music scholarship. His loving mother taught him the art of tailoring, in which he became very skilled.
AI, as he is called by family and friends, accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and united with Zion Baptist Church. He later joined St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, where he served faithfully.
AI developed two talents in his life, music and tailoring . His love for music took him all over the United States and Europe singing with Shorter College Chorale, and in the local, state and National Youth Convention Choirs. A love for tailoring developed into a prosperous business for him. He was called upon by many people in the southeastern United States to tailor dresses, gowns and formal wear for persons attending all kinds of special social functions.
He settled in Atlanta and became Director of Liturgy and Minister of Music at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church. This position led to his involvement with the Catholic Archd iocese of At lant a, serving as Music Director of the annual King Celebration Service and Co -Director of Music for Archbishop Marino 's Installation Service . La t er, he was involved in forming and directing the Archdiocese Mass Choir.
After a lengthy illness, AI departed this life on Sunday, May 9, 1993. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Nuckles (Carrie Lou); devoted brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Nuckles, Jr. (Shari), Reverend and Mrs. James B. **We welcome to this celebration of the Eucharist those Christians who are not fully united with us. It is a consequence of the division in Christianity that we cannot extend to them a general invitation to receive Communion. Catholics believe that the Eucharist is an action of the celebrating community signifying a oneness in faith, life and worship of the commnity. Reception of the Eucharist by Christians not fully united with us would imply a oneness that does not yet exist and for which we must all pray. Those not receiving sacramental communion are encouraged to express their hearts prayerful desire for unity with the Lord Jesus and with one another.

The family of Alphonso Oswald Nuckles expresses our sincere thanks to the family and friends for all acts of kindness shown during his illness and passing. Your love and concern have helped to make this time of bereavement less of a time of sorrow, and more of a time of rejoicing. This is what AI would have wanted. We thank you.
