Do not stand at my grave and weep.. . I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awake in the mornings hush, I am the swift upflinging rush, Of quiet birds in circling flight, I am the soft star shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry... I am not there, I did not die.

Reverend James E. Milton, Pastor
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own
understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct
thy paths."
(Proverbs 3:5-6)
I greet this day with loue in my heart for ... This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Happy Is He Who Relies On God
The prophet Jeremiah says: a curse on him who relies on man,
depends upon mere human aid for he is like some desert shrub that
neuer striue set in solitary place in the steps, but happy is he who relies
on God who has God for his confidence for he is like a tree planted by
a stream sending his roots down to the water, he has no fear ofscorch-
ing heat his leaues are green he goes on bearing fruit when all around is
barren and looks on life with quiet eyes.
-Howard Thurman
Our Mother, Lila C. Newman was born July 1, 1921 in Cartersville, Georgia to the union of Willie and Julia Kennedy Fletcher. Mama was one of seven children in this loving family. Three brothers preceded her in death. She passed from here to eternity Monday, July 20, 1992 at Mercy South Hospital, Fairfield.
Lila Newman lived in the realm of Jesus, receiving the abundance of His grace. In her living and dying, the Devil is defeated; God is exalted.
After the family moved to Cincinnati, she united with the Southern Baptist Church at an early age, under the leadership of the late Rev. Marshall Moore. She attended Cincinnati Public Schools, and graduated from Old Woodward High School.
Early in her life, praising the Lord in song became her vocation. She began playing for the Church. At age 14, she played for the first Sunday School and BYPU Congress held in Cincinnati.
She married Louis N. Childers and this union was blessed with two children: Gwendolyn and Louis: Later, she married Jim Newman.
Mama loved the Lord and believed in serving Him in sickness and health until her brief hospitalization. As a charter member of the Gospel Music Workshop of America, she was always an inspiration. She was untiringly active in the Music Ministry of the Church as
musician for Early Morning Worship, Senior/Mass Choir, Annual Senior Citizen Choir and assisting in .Children's Church. She was challenged as a teacher in the Primary Sunday School Department, Grade 5 and was devoted to the young people in her classes.
Retiring in 1981 from University Hospital as a Clerk for 30 years, she continued assisting clients at H & R Block Tax Service, a total of 23 years.
She was a proud resident of Glendale for 22 years. Cherishing memories of her love and devotion are: her loving children, Gwendolyn (Albert) McCall and Louis (Patricia) Childers; her devoted mother, Julia White; three sisters, Donzella Gunter, Patricia Figgs and Mary Baines; eight grandchildren, Alan, Frank; Terrence, Deborah, Wesley, Paulette, Kevin and Kendell; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Special ones surviving her include the father of her children, Louis N. Childers of Bronx, New York; her former husband, Jim Newman of Cincinnati, Ohio; and many fond nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
"/ don't know many things, but I know my Mama
is with the Lord."

"Lord, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am." (Psalms 40:4)
God giues us healing for our pain and comfort for our grief,
His consolation is our hopethe strength of our belief.
Through sunshine or in darkest storm, or when our paths look dim,
Our Father knows that we are weak, and holds us close to Him.
So may the Lord now strengthen us and listen to our prayer,
That we may walk with Him and stay foreuer in His care.
We thank all who expressed their sympathy and love of us during the
loss of our dear Lila C. Newman. Your visits, cards, flowers and other
expressions of support and comfort will continue to sustain us through
our grief.
