Mr. John Oliver Murray, age 88, went home to be with Our Lord on Monday, July 27, 2015. He was born on December 19, 1926 in Ellaville, Georgia to the union of the late Charlie and lrene Murray. He was one of eight children born to this loving couple.
John accepted Christ at an early age and was a member
of Quebec Baptist Church in Ellaville, Georgia. As an . .l.oiilli...__....
active member of the church, he enjoyed singing in the church quartet. Each year, when able, he would return for the church's annual homecoming.
Upon moving to Atlanta, John married Ethel Mae Times. Three children were born to this union: Elizabeth, .__ _.... Vanessa and Anthony.
John had several interesting jobs throughout his career. He worked for lrvindale Farms delivering milk products to various vendors, and he worked for Southeastern Sales and Service as a long hau1 transporter of new cars throughout the east and west regions of the United _...._...,. States. ln an effort to be closer to his family, John started FJ!E~~~::-;r-::~ his own business, the John Oliver Murray Janitorial Service. Prior to his retirement, he worked exclusively for Sharp Tech (formerly Southern Saw).
John leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memory, his children, EHzabeth Murray of East Point, GA, Vanessa Eason (Larry), and Anthony Murray of Fayetteville, GA; a loving companion, Janice Calhoun; stepchildren, Major Ronald Dickens, USAF (Ret) of Ft. Washington, MA and Constance Strange of San Jacinto, CA; sisters, Theresa Wise, Berdell Hill and Vernell Walker of East Point, GA; grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Twalla Marshall (Earnest), Mr. and Mrs. Antone Ellison (Shana), Jonathan Murray, Jason Eason, Megan Murray and Lauren Eason; six greatgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many loving and devoted friends.
