David was born on July 15, 1948 to the late David L. Moorer Sr. and Catherine Moorer. David accepted Christ at and became a member of Evergreen Baptist Church when he was eleven years old. From the early ages of his life he was recognized for his leadership skills and service to others. He always put God at the "Center Of His Life'' and was Junior Superintendent of the Sunday School Class at Evergreen Baptist Church while still in high school. He lived by the Creed, "But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. "
David graduated Valedictorian from Carver High School. He was a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Morehouse College earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Physics. David received a postgraduate degree in Mathematics from Michigan State University. David was initiated into Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc through Psi Chapter, at Morehouse College in April 1968. He was an Executive Board Member of the Eta Omega Alumnae Chapter of Omega Psi Phi at the time of his transition. David was married to his friend and soul mate Bettye and was .the proud
father of Brian David and Courtney Jacqlyn. He was a father figure to so
many other children. He loved everybody and never met a "stranger". He
encouraged the development of all individuals and positively influenced
the minds and hearts of everyone that he met. David loved being with his
family and was definitely the "driving force" of his immediate family as
well as several extended families that he readily made "HIS OWN".

David lives through those he left behind, his loving and devoted wife Bettye, his precious children, Brian and Courtney, scholarly godsons, Darren Littleton, Dwayne Yancey, Joseph Gordon, Rico Moorer, Emile Ennis Jr., Ayana Groves and Nikki Moorer, his cherished mother Catherine, his dedicated brothers Donald, Larry and Randall, his supportive in-laws, Richard and Isabel Manor, his treasured aunts, Cora Williams, Alene Gibson, Irene Allison and Eunice Morris, his baseball loving uncle Allen
Pryor, his dependable sister-in-laws, Minnie Mincey, Mary L. King, Mary
M. Moorer, Stella G. Moorer and Margie B. Manor, his fun loving brother-in-laws, Patrick Manor and William Mincey. David also has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, his beloved Cascade family, Omega Psi Phi "Brothers", "Morehouse College Brothers", extended families, wonderful colleagues, neighbors and friends that will cherish his memory forever.
David only wanted to serve the Lord and today he is absent from the body but present with the Lord. He no longer resides at 785 James Madison Drive. David is an heir to the Lord's Promise. He is in his mansion in the sky. It is located at the corner of ''I HAVE FOUGHT THE GOOD FIGHT, COMPLETED MY COURSE AND KEPT THE FAITH. TO LIVE IS CHRIST AND TO DIE IS GAIN STREET". It is our charge to live our lives so that we may be neighbors on HIS STREET.
As children, our father always taught us the values of Jesus Christ, loving others unconditionally, as well as ourselves. He always taught us to forgive others no matter what they did and also the importance of prayer. He was more than our father; he was our confidant, friend, inspiration and motivator. As long as we both did our very best, he was truly satisfied. There was never a day when we did not feel his LOVE. He loved his family as well as others. He will always be remembered as a light in the community.
Even though we do not understand why he was taken away from us, we have comfort in knowing that he is now with his Heavenly Father, Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his Earthly Father, Granddaddy David.
In life we loved you dearly, In death, we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place
No one can ever fill.
With love from his children, Brian David Moorer and Courtney Jacqlyn Moorer

We gratefully acknowledge the countless expressions of your love and concern during the homegoing of our beloved David. Your thoughtfulness eased our sorrow and made us aware of how wonderful it is to be blessed
with good friends. Friends are our earthly blessings when they respond in moments of despair. May God, in His infinite wisdom, bless and keep you always.
