Opening Chapter: Family Life On November 23rd, in a chosen year of ow: Lord, God ordained the birth of NANCY Louise Harrell. She was born to parents Kenneth and Clara Flemming. Nancy was one of five children including Kenneth Flemming, Jr., Victoria (Gene) Boston Rodney M. Flemming, and Donna Lynn Flemming. Nancy' hometown was Jacksonville, Florida (where her siblings and mother still reside).
Nancy was married to the late Robert L. "Bob' Montgomery for 25 blissful years. They were blessed with one biological son, "the joy of their life," Dr. Brian eal Montgomery. They were also favored with one adopted son from his infancy, Jeffrey Montgomery (embraced as their bloodline). Nancy enjoy the pleasme in life of being blessed with fow: bonus children as a gift through her marriage to Bob. They were Altoi e Montgomery, the late Robert L. Montgomery, Jr. Eric L. Montgomery and Sherrie Sanders.
Through the paternal line of Dr. Brian Neal Montgomery, the Montgomery tree roots expanded, giving Nancy sL~ grandchildren to love and spoil Breona (Newnan Georgia), Brejhai (\Vaelder, Texas) Dorien (McDonoug~ Georgia), Cailan (Longview, Texas), Chase (Duluth, Georgia ) and Eyan (Louisville, Kentucky).
Chapter 2: Education Nancy began developing her academic proficiency in the
public schools ofJacksonville, Florida. She acquired fundamental academic skills at the Susan B. Tolbert Elementary SchooL he continued her learning curve by matriculating through the academic and extra-curricular programs of Northwestern JuniorSenior High School, Jacksonville, Florida. She broadened her educational and career horizons by enrolling and graduating from Albany State College/University (1969), where she majored in Nursing Education (her life's career passion).
Chapter 3: Work Experience Nancy Montgomery was an experienced nw:se, serving
in that capacity for 48 years. Her tenw:e of service experience was rendered in several health service environments where she served with a zeal, compassionate heart, empathetic spirit and caring attitude. Holy Family, Wesley \Voods-Emory and Fulton County Board of Health were Adanta area locations where he administered her gifts of nursing service.
he retired from the DeKalb County Board of Health Services. She erved in capacities as head nurse and has supervisor of nurses in many ho pitals.
Chapter 4: Spiritual Life Nancy Montgomery proudly embraced her Christian
upbringing. She boasted of being raised in the church from age 2, having been intimately grown and nurtured in the Day Spring Baptist Church until age 14. Nancy was baptized at the St. Matthews Baptist Chw:ch. After marriage to Bob Montgomery, Adanta, Georgia,
ancy joined Westhills Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the Gospel Triumph Choir. She served there until she followed her sons, Brian and Jeffrey by joining them at Ben Hill United Methodist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Walter Kimbrough. Nancy was a member at Ben Hill until her departure from earth. She rendered her due benevolent and faithful service at Ben Hill by singing in the Sanctuary Choir, participating in the United Women's Organization, and also in the Jewels and Partners Organization. Nancy was a dedicated member to the 12 o'clock Wednesday Bible Study and the Wednesday Night Prayer Group.
Chapter 5: Social Life Activities filled Nancy's life. She was full of energy and used
it to live a full and active life in community service with her nursing orority, Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. She was an eager Soror who gave untiringly of her time and talents to make a difference in all projects undertaken.
ancy loved life and spent it joyously with family, friends, coworkers and community associates. She enjoyed music, dancing, entertaining family and friends at home, and especially playing her beloved past time game of Bridge. Nancy was an excited and engaged member of the American Bridge Association. She was also a proud member of the Red Hatters Organization. Nancy loved going to the Bowden Senior Center to enjoy others in her age group in many diverse fun activities.
Final Chapter: Legacy ancy spent life joyously savoring every moment-making
it count in building memories with family and friends or depositing gifts of service throughout her occupational environment or through the community. She leaves her children, grandchildren, mother, iblings, aunt, special brother-in-law (Willie E. Bowden, Sr.), a grand host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends to miss her company love talents and spirit of joyous living.
The family mournfully says farewell to her earthly presence and bids her rest in eternal peace in the heavens with ow: love!
