To our Guardian Angel,
In the words of the late Maya Angelou, ...
"My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive, and to do so with some passion, some compassion some humor and some style."
We saw you as just that.
You were a kind-hearted, generous and loving lady of faith. Your poise, your sass was undeniable to all, making you a stranger to none. To many you were seen as witty and persistent, but to us you were Joyal, strong, loving and determined. You were also a woman of many words and showed no hesitation in sharing.
You have instilled in us that nothing comes easy without hard work and dedication, and for that we are forever in debt to you. You have left us with great memories, a host of stories and warmth in our hearts. You truly will be missed.
'just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly. II
Likewise, you became our guardian angel.
With all our love,
Your Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren

On July 3rd in the year 1932, while everyone was preparing to celebrate our nation's birthday, Will and Maria Hall were preparing for a different celebration. On that early Sunday morning, in a modest home in Montgomery, Alabama the world received a blessing of Lucy Mae Hall. Then on Saturday, July 19th in 2014, the angels rejoiced, as she was welcomed to her eternal home.
Lucy Mae Hall, also known as Shug and Ms. Lucy, was named after her grandmother, Lucy Roden. She was the second daughter of Will and Maria Hall, and the oldest sister to Willie and Alvin (Hazel) Hall. After graduating from Carver High School in 1952, she was inspired to pursue her dream as a nurse by receiving her education and certification from Trenholm Technical College in Montgomery, Alabama and LaSalle School of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois. Ms. Lucy's education paved the way and made it possible for her to work for over 16 years at various hospitals and doctors' offices.
In 1990 she relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, and continued to aid others in their quest to live a healthy life. She became an entrepreneur as an owner of a Nature Sunshine Herb Shop. Ms. Lucy's many years of service and passion to help others established the foundation for the last years of her career where she worked as a Personal Child Care Provider. During this time she assisted several families with the nurturing of their children from the age of infancy to pre-kindergarten.
Her legacy actually began at the age of 12, when she gave her life to the Lord. It led her to a life of prayer and faith. During her years of service to God, she touched the lives of people from all generations. For 24 years she was a devoted member of Ben Hill United Methodist Church where she served faithfully with the Christian Door Keepers, Jewels and Partners Ministry, United Methodist Women and as a Sunday School Teacher. Her love and devotion to God gave her a passion for life, which literally carried her around the world.
Ms. Lucy leaves to cherish her memory her two brothers Willie Hall and Alvin (Hazel) Hall, her son Edward Charles (Barbara) Hall, her daughters Jacquelyn Elizabeth (Kenneth) Payne, Cynthia Ann (Cory- deceased) Walker and Vivian (Ralph) Baker, and her God-son Eldridge (Sheila) Stephens. Her daughter Debra Denise Chaney, who preceded her in death, welcomed her to their eternal home. Also to cherish her memory are her 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and many beloved relatives and friends.
Ms. Lucy made a mark in the lives of her family and friends that is truly unforgettable.
