Obituary
-
Mrs. Ella Bell Jewell Mitchell was born on November 1, 1921 in Stephens, Georgia (Oglethorpe County) to the late Ben and Irene Jewell. At an early age, Ella and her brother Horace moved to Decatur with other family members. She matriculated through the City of Decatur School System.
Ella was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Warren H. Mitchell in 1946. To this union five children were born. Ella gave her life to Christ and joined Antioch AME Church nearly 80 years ago at a revival. Until her death she often talked about growing up in Antioch and participating in various activities. She was a faithful member of the Henderson Usher Board until her health declined. She enjoyed receiving greeting cards, Thanksgiving and Chrisbnas baskets from Antioch Church members. She was always happy to see Reverend Garland for communion.

Ella was employed for more than 25 years with the Williams family of Decatur. She loved this family as her own and the family continued to keep in touch until her passing.
Ella was a giver. She loved cooking and entertaining with her family and friends. The kitchen was the meeting place when you came to her home. No one ever left empty-handed. She had a contagious laugh and a very witty sense of humor.
On October 4, 2015 Ella transitioned to her heavenly home to be with her beloved husband Warren, her first-born Gwen, her brother Horace and other family members who proceeded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Gloria Pierre and Beverly ~ Hoke; and two sons, Warren H. Mitchell Jr. (Cynthia) and Floyd H. Mitchell
