Harvey Lee Mclendon was born to the late Bennie and Essie Mclendon of Crawfordville, Georgia. He was the baby of ten children. Six of his siblings preceded him in death.
He attended Murden High School in Crawfordville, Georgia. At an early age, he joined the Friendship Baptist Church in Crawfordville, Georgia under the pastorate of Reverend Earl Mclendon.
He moved to Atlanta, Georgia and was employed at Aunt Fanny's Bakery and the Southern Bakery for several years until his health declined.
Harvey was a quiet and humble person. He enjoyed dancing. He could imitate James Brown and was very good at it too.
On Saturday, May 11, 2013, he departed this life. He leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter, Patricia Ann Young ofAlpharetta, Georgia; one granddaughter, Yashika Young of Atlanta, Georgia; two sisters, Marion Dolphus of Jamaica, New York and Jannie Lue Evans of Crawfordville, Georgia; one brother, Willie Joe Mclendon (Carolyn) of Atlanta, Georgia; and a host of other family and friends.
