The Obituary
Pearl (Ma Pearl) Piggue McCoy was born September 11, 1912 in Humboldt, Tennessee to the union of Elvin and Emily Piggue. She was an only child. Ma Pearl moved to Detroit at the age of five years old with her parents, and attended Detroit Public Schools.
Ma Pearl met and married Fred McCoy, Sr. in 1929. To this union four children were born. They were married 56 years until he preceded her in death in January 1985. Ma Pearl worked as a nurse's assistant for forty years at various hospitals and nursing homes.
In time, Ma Pearl came to love and put her trust in Jehovah and served him with a complete and unwavering heart by dedicating her life to him in November 1988.
Her love for her family and friends, whom she considered her brothers and sisters, was evident and displayed by her actions and words of encouragement, even in her ailing years.
Ma Pearl died on Saturday, April22, 2006 at 5:50p.m., at Henry Ford Hospital. Her memory will be kept by: Her two children, Barbara McCoy and Charles McCoy (Jean) of Detroit; five grandchildren, Jerry Gravitte (Doris) of Moreno Valley CA, Randy McCoy, Ronny McCoy, Sr., Romelle McCoy, Sr. (Tiffany) and Renee Mosby (Gregory) all of Detroit; six greatgrandchildren, Samarachere Jerry, Bianca, Briana, Ron Jr., Ryand, Quentin, and Romelle Jr.; and a host of friends and fellow believers.
She was preceded in death by sons Fred Jr. and Elvin, and grandson Eric.
Ma Pearl was a loyal and faithful sister who was dearly loved by the Holmur congregation and she will be truly missed.
A precious one from us has gone, A voice we love is stilled,
A place is vacant in our homeWhich never can be filled.
And after a lonely heartache And many a silent tear,
But always a beautiful memoryOfone we love so dear.
