Obituary
James D. McConnell. Sr., 91 of364 Poplar Springs Rd., Adairsville, GA died Saturday, August 29, 1998 at his residencefollowng a lengthy illness.
He was born in Bartow County, July 10, 1907, son ofthe late William and N annie McConnell. He was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a
deacon and the oldest member. He was a member ofthe
Masonic Order, was active in the PTA, and was a trustee in the Bartow County School System in the 1940's - 1960's. He was reti'redfrom L&N Railroad, where he workedfor 43 years.
He was preceded in dea.th by his wife N elle Trimble McConnell.
Survvors include two daughters, Mary Carreathers, Adairsville and Helen Jean McConnell, Atlanta; three sons Nelson (Thelma) McConnell, Adairsville; James D. (Martha) McConnell, Jr., Litlanta; William "Cecil" (Erma) McConnel4 Cartersville. One brother, RantkJlph McConnel4 Calhoun; 20 grandchildren, 34 greatgrandchildren and 6 great.b-rreat grandchildren also survive him. Nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
