OBITUARY
Carrie McClendon was born March 6, 1906 in Doddsville, Mississippi to the union of the late Mr. & Mrs. Davis.
She was united in Holy matrimony to the late Lawson McClendon, Sr. December 25, 1924, and to that union 14 children were born.
She later united with the Green Grove Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her death.
She departed this life, April 20, 1986 at 11:00 p.m. at Bolivar County Hospital, Cleveland, Mississippi.
Four children preceded her in death.
She leaves to mourn her passing: seven (7) sons, Johnnie McClendon, Cleveland, Mississippi; Warner, Lawson, Jr., J.D. Roosevelt, Willie and James, all of Chicago, Illinois; three (3) daughters, Bertha Cleveland, Jennie Earnest, and Evangelist Flora Peacock, all of Chicago, Illinois; thirty-seven (J7) grandchildren; two (2) great grandchildren; two (2) sister-in-laws, Mary Griffin of Ruleville, Mississippi and Ella Williams of South Bend, Indiana; one (1) brother-in-law, Eugene McClendon of Cleveland, Mississippi; one (1) great aunt, Alma Lott of South Bend, Indiana; and a host of other relatives and friends.
As members of the late Carrie McClendon's family, we ask that, ''God grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference.''
