Robert (Bob) Louis McCann was born June 5th, 1949 to Louise Brightwell and Jessie Louis McCann in Adanta, Ga. He was the second of seven children (Daniel Brightwell, Michael McCann (deceased), Rita McCann Gotel, Melvin McCann (yelma), Gilda McCann (deceased), and Antonio McCann). Life was always interesting in the McCann household ... just ask one of his siblings.
After graduating high school Robert went to Morehouse University and received a Bachelor's degree in Computer Technology and a Masters in Business Administration from Fordham University. He had a love for technology and electronics. He worked for IBM for 25+ years in various roles. He started his career as a developer winning awards for his work in writing code for an operating system for one of the earlier versions of an IBM computer.
He progressed through his career from an IT focused career to Sales and Marketing Executive with major accounts for government and corporations and won the IBM Golden Award several times for his excellent work in Sales and Marketing. He retired from IBM and later worked in Sales and Marketing for another Technology company.
He was also a husband and father to his two daughters, Kurtrinna McCann Smith and Nikki McCann, and step father to, Katrina Danielle Fontenot Mackey and I<ristina Michelle Fontenot. Although a strict disciplinarian he was also a very loving father focused on the success of those he loved.
Unfortunately, in his later years his health caused him to leave his successful Marketing career with Sirius Solutions and focus on his own health. He turned to his love for technology and tinkered with various projects keeping himself amused with the latest gadgets (iPhones, iPads, i-etc.). He enjoyed time with his extended family, teaching his granddaughters, Ashley Smith (deceased), Kennedy Smith, and his step grandson, Dontre Simon about all the latest gadgets. He looked forward to sharing that love of technology with his great grandson, Peyton Hammond and great granddaughter Lyric Smith (deceased), but the Lord had other plans for him.
He called Bob home on Thursday, October 9th, 2014. I'm sure Bob has already found a place in the Lord's Technology area ... although it's probably far different from any technology he's learned on this earth. Bob, we miss you. We love you. We will see you again in heaven. We look forward to learning about the new technology you've learned (and created) up there!
