MY HELP COMETH FROM THE LORD, WHICH
MADE HEAVEN AND EARTH.
Mrs. Leoma Miller Matthews born August 23, 1934 to the late Elder Roosevelt, Sr. and Mrs. Ruth lvey Miller. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Mr. A.C. Matthews, Sr. on the fifth Saturday in July 1950. She attended school at Salem. She joined the Olive Grove Baptist Church at an early age. She served faithfully on the usher board for many years. She loved her church and church family.
She raised Mr. Joe Lewis Matthews (brother-in-law), Christopher Scandrett and Traviece Freeman as her very own. She was the mother of 11 children: Evangelist Mary Kendall, Leona Turner (Frank), Rubbie Blasingame (Bobby Sr.), Rebecca Worthy, Patricia Matthews, A. C. Matthews, Jr. (Clemetine), Virginia Freeman (Bernard), Tony Matthews, Sr. (Cheryl), Lesa Hayes (Jefferson), Michael Matthews, (Juliet), Cynthia Matthews; god-son: J .R. Dickey; 21 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sisters and brothers: Mrs. Gussie Murchison, Elijah Miller (Rhoda Mae), Elizabeth Harvey (M.C.), Lizzie Barnes (Wilford), Henry Miller (Gladys). Elder Roosevelt Miller, Jr., (Evangeline), Mattie Pearl Griffin, and Raymond Miller; sisters and brothers-in-law: Emma Maude Miller, Bishop Frank Paul Matthews, Rev Owen Malone, Howard Matthews, (Betty), Gloria Matthews, Dorothy Matthews Fudge; aunts: Mary Lee Ivey, and Lizzie Lou Ivey. She embrace many friends and loved ones, nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. We thank God for a loving mother.
