The family of Johnnie Mathis, Jr. extends thanks to all of you who brought deeds of kindness and expressions of love and comfort to us. Thank God for the Hospice Staff at Golden Living Nursing Home who took very good care of our love one.

Mr. Johnnie Mathis, Jr. was born May 29, 1930 to the late Mittie and Johnnie Mathis in Macon, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Doris Mathis and brother, Willie James Mathis.
He received his primary education in Atlanta, Georgia and completed his high school education at Washington High School in Atlanta, Georgia. Johnnie joined the United States Army and served four years.
He was employed by the Veterans Administration Department in the Maintenance Department until his declining health caused him to retire. He never lost his passion for drawing and painting.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted sister, Betty Hall, Decatur, Georgia; brother, Freeman Mathis, Union City, Georgia; one sister-in-law, Mema Matthews, Atlanta, Georgia; nieces, Joyce Hall, Decatur, Georgia, Joanett Solomon, Decatur, Georgia, Stephanie Mathis, Union City, Georgia, and Tracy Matthews, Atlanta, Georgia; and a host of cousins and friends.
