HOMEGOING SERVICES FOR
REV. HATTIE ROBERTA MARTIN

Saturday, January 16, 1999 2:00P.M . Zion Missionary Baptist Church 929 Zion Circle Roswell, Georgia 30075
.-

"To everything there is a season, and a time to eve1y purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, a time to die, a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted' A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance. A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace" (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8).
A TIME TO BE BORN: Rev. Hattie Martin was born in Roswell, Georgia to the late Ernest and Lillian (Butler) Martin on September 29, 1941. Little Hattie was a feisty, energetic and inquisitive youngster. Hattie was introduced to Christianity at an early age by her parents and grandparents (Mr. & Mrs. Mitchell Martin) until she personally dedicated her life to Christ and joined Zion Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. B. J. Johnson, Jr. Upon returning to Atlanta, she united with the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where she served faithfully.
A TIME TO WORK: A willing, dedicated and dependable worker. Whether it was praying, preaching, shouting, singing in the choir, serving as Mistress of Ceremony, counselor or caretaker, she gave it her all. She was called to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Clu ist on October 18, 1994 under the pastorate of Rev. Bobby L. Graham, National Spiritual Divine Church. After she accepted her calling to the ministry, she was appointed to the Outreach Ministry and Neighborhood Improvement Committee. She went about doing the will of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ until her health began to fail her.
A TIME TO ENJOY: A loving, compassionate, understanding, never wavering or complaining individual was a part of the attributes of Hattie Martin. She sought to find and accent the positive rather than the negative of those she came in contact with. She brought joy and aspirations to those lives she touched, and had the ability to create laughter in both old and young.
A TIME TO DIE: On Wednesday evening, January 13, 1999, the Lord called her home. She knew that a person born of a woman is onJy a few days. She took her last breath surrounded by her loving family.
A TIME TO REJOICE: Hattie leaves to celebrate her homegoing and cheri<;h her fond memories, a loving Grandmother, Mrs. Artie Martin, Aunts: Mrs. Ruby Butler, Mrs. Jamie Bohannon and Mrs. Carrie L. NuckJes; devoted cousins, Ms. Patricia A. Bass, Ms. Gail Bohannon; Goddaughter, Ms. Wanda White; National Divine Spirituai Church family; a host of Bohannon, Butler and Martin cousins and other relatives and fri ends.
