OBITUA.RY

Son1e 75 years ago, God ignited a light that emanated from The

late Mr. Jin1my Williams and The late Mrs. Hattie :tviae Logue-

Williams of Sandersville, Georgia. This light was to shine in the life

of one whom her parents named Memphis Marelene Williatns.

Growing up in Sandersville, Georgia, many significant events

took place in her life; A Foundation, A Salvation, A Career and A

Love. From the public schools of Washington County, she received

her elementary and high school education. She became a member of

He:nderson Grove A. M. E. Church where she met her Savior and

Lord and began her walk in Christian Stewardship. She touched lives

as an Educator (the oldest and most respe-cted profession of that time)

teaching English. Finally, she united in marriage to Mr. Alex ~v1arion

and to this union thev had one son. Thev relocated to Atlanta where

she was crrtployed at the Rushton Company until she retired.

Nurtured in the African Methodist Episcopal Church from

birth, upon rnoving to i\tlanta1 sh2 became a n1ember of f\tnanda Flipper A. M. E. Church vvhere she faithfully served for some 50+

years. Her service included membership in the Iv1issionary Society,

The Lay Organization, Trustee of the Church. Church Treasurer,

Usher Board and Stewardess. In addition to her local church service,

she served faithfully on the Area and Conference Branch Levels of

the Lay ()rganization.

Mrs. 1viarion possessed an abiding interest in people and found

joy in serving the Lord. She was endowed with a loving, tender,

caring and sharing heari: with a magnetic charming personality.

She is preceded in death by her husband Mr. Alex Marion,

t:hrce brothers The:rman .V/illian1s, Hemy \tVillian1s, Twillie Williams

and one sister I-Iattie Pearl Howell. She is survived by her heart, and

only son Rev. Jeffery A. IY1arion (Athens) and a foster daughter Benita G. Hill (Atlunta); two God-daughters Mrs. Mich~lle Cade (Atlanta) and

L'Tanya Mon..nyeen Moore (Atlanta); one brother 1\1r. A. D. \tVilliams

(Sandersz,illie); one brother-in-law Rev. L. T. Howell (Atlanta) and three

sisters-in-law, Susie Mae Williams (Sandersville), Ollie Williams (Atlanta)

and Christine Williams (Sandersville); 3 grandchildren and 4 great~

grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and numerous relatives and m?ny,

many friends.
