Raymond Malone, the son of the late Richard Collins and Essie Mae Malone was born in Fulton County, College Park, Georgia on October 26, 1939. He was the fifth child of ten children.
He attended College Park Elementary School in College Park, Georgia. Raymond graduated from South Fulton High School in East Point, Georgia. From there he attended Morris Brown College where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1963. At Morris Brown College Raymond was a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. Raymond was also a member of Morris Brown Choir and Band. He received a Master's Degree in music at Georgia State University.
Throughout this life, Raymond was a devoted Christian. He joined Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church at an early age, sang and served as the minister of music.
As a composer, he wrote music that was implemented for both elementary and high schools. He also composed symphonies and wrote classical music; some pieces were used in the "Method Book" of music sold in area music stores. Raymond performed on the Georgia Public Broadcasting Educational Station. He also acted in commercials and independent films. He performed in numerous stage plays and musicals around Georgia such as "Street Scenes" in 1972 at Clark College. Raymond made several guest appearances with the Morris Brown College Choir to sing the Christmas Messiah and guest soloed at their annual Spring Concert. He performed with the Atlanta Ecumenical Choir at some of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Services at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Raymond was well-known for his beautiful Baritone voice. He played for numerous churches and was affectionately known as "MISTRO". Raymond could play many musical instruments. In the 60' s, Raymond marched with Martin Luther King, Jr. Raymond served in the United States Armed Services and was the conductor of the Army Band.
Raymond devoted 41 years of service as Band Director in the Fulton County School System. South Fulton High School is noted as being one of his landmark schools. Raymond retired from Fulton County School System in 2004. His talents were truly a blessing from God.
Raymond Malone is survived by: his two sons, Jomo Kenyatt Malone and Raymond Malone, II; four brothers, Mr. and Mrs. RiJhard Malone (Barbara), Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Malone (SamaraJ, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Malone (Beverly) and Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Malone (Adrianne); two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Diane MaloneColeman (Clarence) and Miss. Aline Malone-Favors; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Three brothers, Robert Collins Malone (Notra), John Ernest Malone and Albert Evans; and one sister-in-law, Annie Mae Malone preceded him in death.
