Reverend Robert L. Mallory faithfully served The Macedonia African Methodist Episcopal Church, as an inspiring Pastor and great leader from 1982 until God called him home to wear his crown on Wednesday, October 11, 2006. Robert Mallory began pastoring in March of 1982, after being ordained under the leadership of his pastor, the late Reverend Oliver Saxby, Jr., of the Saint Peter A.M.E. Church of Atlanta, Georgia. When Reverend Mallory was appointed to Macedonia A.M. E. Church, formerly located in Atlanta, Georgia. The first service was held with his family, visitors, friends and his mission was to build a church. Reverend Mallory pressed on by faith with very little support, and through his own commitment and his personal anointed vision to "Spread the Word and Love of God." The Macedonia A.M.E. Church Family has grown to over 500 members. Reverend Mallory's vision to relocate and expand Macedonia's membership and community outreach, brought the congregation to its current sanctuary of the New Macedonia A.M.E. Church, located in Rex, Georgia in 2001.
Robert Lee Mallory was born on July 23, 1938, in Greensboro, Georgia, to the late Ada Mae Lewis and Emory Mallory. Robert Lee was the third child and the first son of four. To cherish memories of him, he leaves his three siblings, Ruby Robbins (the late Douglas West Robbins) and Dorothy Rankins (Ray Rankins) and his brother Godfrey Mallory (Patricia A. Armstrong).
He received his education in the Greene County Public Schools, Greensboro, Georgia and graduated from Greene County High School. In 1970, with a passion to learn and comprehend the "Word Of God", Reverend Mallory pursued his theological education from the Carver Bible Institution in Atlanta, Georgia, while working full-time at the Mead Packing Paper Company in Atlanta. Robert Lee worked at Mead Packing Company from 1957 to 1997 in capacities ranging from Printer Operator, Forman, Lead Forman & Shift Supervisor. Robert was known for his loyalty, dependability and leadership. He was well known during his 40 years of service at Mead for his love for God and Mankind. Robert was in addition, an outstanding mentor and maintained an excellent rapport with his associated co-workers.
On December 17, 1960, Robert L. Mallory married Ella Dean Boyd of Alabama. To this union, three children were born: son, Victor Bernard, and two daughters, Varonica Denise and Shelia Cassandra. Robert Mallory was the shining example of a family man. As husband, father, son, brother, grand-father, uncle, brother-in-law, nephew and cousin, he was always willing to take time, and support his family.
Reverend Robert Lee Mallory leaves to mourn the utmost of cherished memories , his wife of 46 years, Ella Dean; two sons, Victor Bernard Mallory and step-son, Kenneth Walker; two daughters, Varonica Denise (Kenneth) Ross and Shelia Cassandra (Undra) Simmons; grandchildren, Brandon Andre and Breanna Denise Ross. He joins grandson Jeremiah Simmons who preceded him to his final destination; two sisters, Ruby Robbins and Dorothy Rankins (Ray); one brother, Godfrey (Patricia A.) Mallory; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters and brothers-in-law, relatives, friends and his Macedonia Church Family.
Reverend Mallory was a true anointed "Man Of God" who stood steadfast and unmovable on his journey. He leaves his beloved Macedonia African Methodist Episcopal Church Family and Auxiliaries to carry on his commitment and visions to do "God's Will" henceforth now and forevermore. He will truly be missed by many far, close and beyond. No Doubt. ..... .
