Obituary
Mr. Willie Mack passed away peacefully on Monday January 2, 2012, after a gradual decline in health. At his time of death he was surrounded by his loving and caring family.
Willie was born in Plant City Florida on March 22, 1926. He was the fourth child to the late Annie Mack and Willie Sims. In the 1940's; Willie relocated to Rochester, NY.
Willie was known by many as "Mack". Upon his arrival to Rochester he found work at General Railway Signal and Eastman Kodak Company. However after working for some time, Mack decided to become a entrepreneur of a sort and took on many jobs ranging from owning restaurants, nightclubs and even a dry cleaners, however his passion was driving and he found satisfaction as a cab driver for over 40 years working for Associate and Airways Taxi Companies driving (Cab #6). He found joy in this field and realized indeed this was his true calling; working diligently until he decided to retire his "hack plate" in 2008.
Willie enjoyed the outdoors, he loved to golf as a young man, He would have his daughters tag along and perform caddie duties at Genesee Valley Park, some of Willie's activities included hunting and trap shooting. Willie was one of the 50 founding members of the Falcon Trap and Game Club, in Mumford NY. Willie loved to fish, whether it was sitting on the dock of the bay or sitting in one of his many boats. Willie enjoyed his summer months at Cape Vincent with Champ and Bay Bay, Mack's chosen sons, who would do things for Mack just the way he wanted them done.
One of his many talents included cooking, as a young man he spent his summers cooking for the boy scouts at Camp Massawepie in the Adirondack Mountains, and when one of his daughters wanted to know how to cook a dish, they would come to Dad, he could make anything into something. Upon his later years "Mack" enjoyed spending time with his crew on Heisel Alley and club house friends, off Jefferson Avenue, where they played cards, dominoes, cooked or just had fun "hanging out" and when not with friends you would find "Mack" with his family who he loved so much in Rochester. He would also travel between California, (Michael how much fun he had with you taking him out on the boat on the Bay, and North Carolina, (Ben he loved your picnics!), and in Florida visiting family and friends he had not seen in many years.
