Ms. Peggy Lumpkin was born April 4, 1955 to the late Oscar Lumpkin, Sr. and Ms. Julia Lumpkin. She was the fourth child out of five born to this union. On September 14, 2014, God chose to call her home. She departed this life at Embracing Hospice in Snellville, Georgia to join her heavenly father.
Peggy Lumpkin graduated from Murphy High School in 1973. She pursued a career with Kemper Insurance Company for several years. She worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail processor for 26 years until her death.
When asked to describe Peggy, family and friends alike said she was quiet and was a very private young lady. Her nieces were the pride and joy of her life and time spent with them was obviously immeasurable. She contributed willingly and generously to their education in her monetary giving, gifts, and moral support. Her most special attribute she possessed was being the sole caretaker of her mother and brother. She devoted her entire life to them.
She was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Oscar Lumpkin, Sr.; sister, Ms. Beverly Lumpkin ; and brother, Oscar Lumpkin, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory, a devoted lovely mother, Mrs. Julia Lumpkin; two brothers , Mr. Julian Lumpkin and Mr. Barna (Leona) Lumpkin; three nieces, Mrs. Alexis Nicole (Takia) Walton of Rex, Georgia, Mrs. DeQuita Latoyta (Jerome) Dixon of McDonough, Georgia, and Ms. Deanna Thomas of Macon, Georgia; one nephew, Mr. Barna Lumpkin, Jr. of Stone Mountain , Georgia; two great-nephews, Braden Dixon and Tyson Walton; one great-niece, Ms. Morgan Walton; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free I'm following the path God has laid you see. I took His hand when I heard him call. I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day to laugh, to love, to work, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way, I found that peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, oh yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much, Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don't lengthen it now with undue grief Lift up your hearts and peace to thee,
God wanted me now; He set me free.
