Ruth Jacquelyn Wells Lowe was born on May 10, 1950, and was the third child of the late Larry Wells, Sr. and the late Ruth Gamble Wells, in Lynchburg, Sumter County, South Carolina. She was the stepdaughter of Earther Warren Wells. She was fondly known as "J akki."
She began her education at Fleming Elementary School and she later became one of the first eight black students in the school district to integrate Lynchburg High School. She graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1967. She continued her education at South Carolina State College, majoring in Psychology. After college, she taught briefly in the Lee County Public School System.

she obtained employment at the United States

Service. Her hard work and dedication, allowed her to be

promoted to the rank of Supervisor of Distribution Operations

(SDO). Managers, supervisors, craft, and everyone with whom she

interacted regarded her with the utmost respect. She enjoyed a

productive career during which time she inspired many.

Ruth always had a lo re for music. ._"'he started to play the piano at the tender age ) si . She even formed a family quartet \vith her sis rs and father as bass; they \vere invited to many churches t perfo rm. She played other musical instruments, including the tenor saxophone. She
. also offered private music lessons. uth was gifted with
the special talent of playing by ear; she also read and composed music, \vhich was her ministry and therapy. That passion for music "\Vas transferred to her kids, who helped her to realize her having a fa 1y Christian band, which called "The Lowe,."
Ruth accepted the Lord into her heart and life at an early age. During her youth, she became a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Shiloh, South Carolina. After moving to Georgia, she joined Rivertown United Methodist Church in Fairburn. During her more than 30 years there, she many capacities: Pianist and Director of numerous choirs, Lay Leader, President of the United Methodist Woman, choir member, Delegate for the UMC Conference, and Director of Activities at summer camps. She also played for other churches programs, including Bethlehem United Methodist Church, where she was over the children and adult choirs. Ruth was also an Associate Member of Berean Baptist Church, Lovejoy, Georgia, where Rev. Dr. Willie R. Johnson Sr. is Pastor. Ruth did great works as a servant of God and increased the growth of U.niversal Church of Christ.

Ruth's warm and caring nature allowed her to always be able to make friends out of strangers. She never hesitated to help anyone in need. Every day, she lived by faith in God, nurture for family, and care of friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family, watching classic black and white movies, shopping, fashion, and music. Ruth will be forever missed and never forgotten. She is preceded in death by her father, Larry Wells Sr.; her mother, Ruth Gladys Wells; her sister, Evelyn Dedoyer Wells; and her brother, Alphonia I<ennedy.
She leaves to cherish her memories four loving children, Larri Wells of Fairburn, Georgia; Montrea Lowe (LaShundra) of Conyers, Georgia; Timothy Lowe (Lisa) of Atlanta, Georgia; and Ruthina Lowe of Fayetteville, Georgia; two grandsons, Tyler Landers and Kyler Lowe; two sisters, Rev. Dr. Carolyn Johnson (Rev. Dr. Willie Sr.) of Riverdale, Georgia; Dr. Veryl Scott (Leon Sr.) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one brother, Larry Wells Jr. of Charleston, South Carolina; step-mother, Earther Wells of Lynchburg, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
