IDhe Reverend Dr. Archie Doyster Logan, Jr.. 60, of Morrisville, North Carolina departed from this life Friday, November 13, 2009 unexpectedly in his home. He was born January 9, 1949 in Reidsville, North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Dr. Archie Doyster Logan, Sr. and Eneshell Robeson Logan. He leaves to cherish memories, one son. Robeson Doyster Logan; one special cousin, Rev. Dr. Darson Alexander Logan-Bullard: one living aunt, Doris Logan of El Paso, Texas, former spouse and n1other of son. Dr. Pearl I. Logan of Greensboro: additional spouse. Margaret Elaine Goodson; or.e stepson, Nik Goodson, one stepdaughter, Crystal Goodson: a host of cousins: and special friends, Rev. Dr. Thurman B. Everett, Rev. Dennis Brown. and Rev. Ann R. Beck.
Dr. Logan received his early childhood education from the public schools of Reidsville, North Carolina. He graduated from Reidsville High School where he was a star football player. He graduated from Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, NC with a BA Degree in Communications and played on the 1970 ACC Championship Football Team. He has also attended the Campbell University Law School and Howard University Divinity School. He is a graduate of Duke University Divinity School, Durham, NC where he received his Master of Divinity Degree in 1975 and his Master of Theology Degree in 1976. He also received his Doctor of Education Degree from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, North Carolina in 1994.
Dr. Logan served the General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, Inc. for over 25 years in several capacities, last as the Executive Secretary-Treasurer. He was the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Institutional Management Resources, LLC, a faith-based consulting firm located in Raleigh, North Carolina: and one of the founding officer of the Unity Fellowship of Churches, Inc.-Global where he served as the Chief Operating Officer.
Over the years he has pastored a number of churches. Prior to his death he was the Senior Pastor of Johnson Chapel Baptist Church of Elm City, North Carolina. He served as the Executive Vice President. Dean of Distance Education. and Professor of Christian Education at the Apex School of Theology, Durham, North Carolina. Dr. Logan is a life member of the NAACP, and was an Eagle Scout. He wrote articles for several local newspapers and for the National Baptist Publishing Board, Nashville, Tennessee.
