A DEDICATION TO OUR PAPA:
Today, Jam honoring my great-grandfather James Hezekiah Lindsey, aka Papa. We are blessed to have had him in our lives for 92 years. I know that he is now free in the anns of the Heavenly Father, but we are
heartbroken and we've had so many memories with him .
We have all learned so much from him : I) Detennination, in spite of how much pain he had to endure on a dai ly basis, he fought and did it with grace. 2) Gratitude, in his own little way, he taught us to be thankful for the small things . 3) Love, he taught all of his chi ldren , grand-
children, and great-grandchildren love for the Lord, family, and friends.
We still have quite a few fond memories with him. One thing he did, which I am quite sure got on everyone ' s nerves was he always had something smart or sarcastic to say . For example, when someone was just simply taking off their jackets, he told them to keep their clothes on. Another example, he wou ld sarcastically ask of his grandchildren,
"you' re still working?"
I know that we are grieving his loss, but we should celebrate his life and what he has contributed to it. I know that there will be many firsts, but I know wholeheartedly that we can pull through because our Papa
taught us to never give up .
We are truly blessed beyond measure because we 've had 92 years with him, knowing that the Lord could have taken him , I0-20 years ago .
There are three sides to this: I) Negatively, we feel heartache beyond belief. 2) Positively, he has had the God-given opportunity to meet his grandchildren and great-grandchildren . 3) Learning experience, will make us eventually stronger and better people because of his presence.
God had mercy on Papa and didn 't allow him to suffer any longer. He was and is a testimony offaith as the pa.triarch of the Lindsey, Thomas,
and Paschall families .
To my great-grandfather, my " Papa", James Hezekiah Lindsey: I love you and J know you loved me dearly. You will be sincerely missed and it was an honor and pleasure being your great-granddaughter.
-Love,
Kristian Ayanna Thomas
