In Appreciation
The Lewis, Andrews, Williams, Miller, Morris, Street, WashingtonScott Families wish to Thank - Doctors, Nurses and Medical Staff of Duke University Hospital, Kendred Hospital, Carolina Pointe and of course Progressive Funeral Home and Staff for their unwavering attitude, care, concern and support. For your acts of kindness, your calls, your handshakes, your greetings, your cards, your hugs, have helped us to make his transition a little easier to bear and the loss as God's Almighty Will. We, the Family Thank You and Thank God for you being a part of our lives. May the Lord forever bless and keep you.
A Special Appreciation and Thanks for unwavering support from Alex, Amy, Linda, Ray and their families and Kristy. Last year against medical odds, collectively their support enabled Ezell and Mac to attend the family reunion. Both requiring assistive ambulatory devices and medical infusion, did not defeat the efforts of his family to bring them home-Thank You!

A Final Good-bye to my Favorite Guy

Dear Pop-Pop,

For nearly 46 years, I have been blessed to have you in my comer. You were my Grandfather, my Protector, my Provider, my Biggest Supporter, and

most importantly, my Favorite Guy. I'm so honored to be your namesake, the one who will carry your name for life. I loved to hear you call out Kijona Lea as only Eddie Lee could, usually stuttering because it would be followed by

some fabricated story that only YOU thought was funny. But that was your way; always laughing, always loving life.

As the head of the household you instinctively knew your role and you cherished that position until your last breath. You demanded very little from

your family but you gave abundantly. For that I am grateful. Words cannot

begin to express just how much I've appreciated your hard work and dedica-

tion to this family. Forty-six years ago took a vow to love, honor and cherish your Beloved Mac Morrise (Bobbie), that vow was extended to her children and of course the Grandchildren. Not a d_ay has gone by that you have not

honored those vows. You worked tirelessly to provide a lifestyle for us that

was nothing short of amazing. You were a Husband, Father, Grandfather,

Business man and Mentor to so many.

-

In closing, I promise you I will take care of your other two girls, Bobbie and LaPorsha, just as we've discussed. You've finished your race and passed the baton. I will take it and finish this journey for both of us. Thank you for being my Favorite Guy. I love you from here to eternity. Rest well Big Poppa.

Sorrowfully Submitted,

Kijona Lea

BROTHER EDDIE LEE LEWIS

On June 2, 2015, God is His Infinite Wisdom opened Heaven's gate and called His servant, Eddie "Ezell" Lewis home
Affectionately known as "Ezell". "Satch". Eddie was the first born on, econd child of ten children born to Mr. Elijah and Mrs. Ozeal Scott Lewis. He was educated in the Muscogee County School Sy tern attending Radcliffe and Mueller Hill Elementary Schools and Spencer High School, graduating in 1956.
As a young lad, Ezell developed a strong work ethic that would serve him and his family very well. It was nothing for him to have two to t~e jobs, simultaneously from working at the Farmer's Market, to butcher at Brooks Supermarket, to chef cook at the Famous Varsity Restaurant which relocated to Atlanta, Georgia and is a historic landmark eatery to "Stop and Tell".
After a brief stint in the military, Ezell married Virginia Frazier and to this union was born Tony and Elton Lewis. They moved to Philadelphia and he continued to establish himself as a provider, hard worker and an entrepreneur of several venture . He was the first African American to own a "Mr. Softee lee Cream Franchise". Ezell was awarded several accolades in this business and recognized for his leadership and work ethics which carried through as the first African American to become a member of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Round Table.
Ezell continued to establish himself and family and all surrounding him with a "can do, will do" work ethic that embodied "the man, the father and the human being, and, never forgetting his love for his family and his upbringing which were alway exemplified in the way he treated people.
He met and married Mac Morrise Andrews and their family increased with Macqueline, Jacqueline, Andre' , LaPorsha and Quason. During thi time, Ezell became involved in additional ventures and moved his family to New Jersey where he continued to thrive in private transport and restaurant businesses.
After 32 years and several accolades with the South Eastern Pennsylvania Transit Authority (SEPTA). Ezell, Mac, LaPorsha and Quason moved to North Carolina. Again, establishing himself in the community as a compassionate, supporter of worthy civic causes.

Ezell was alway mmdful of the Lord and His ultimate Love from an early age working with hi father and attending Mt. Sinai Primitive Baptist Church and the Church of the Upper Room, he never let go of his religious upbringing no matter what successes came his way. Everyone who met him, fell in love with him, his jokes, and sense of humor. He loved hi family and always communicated with them.
Mr. Eddie Lewi wa preceded in death by hi s loving parent , Mr. Elijah and Mr . Ozeal Scott Lewis; four loving brothers, James Winfred Lewis, ylvester Lewis, Elijah Lewis, Jr. and Lloyd Benjamin Lewis; one ister, Ozeal Lewis Street, and a son, Tony Lewis. Ezell leave to cherish his many, many memories: a loving wife, Mac; five children, LaPorsha (LaTrell), Quason, Macqueline, Jacqueline (Les), Andre', Elton and a special daughter, Kijona Lee Thompson; grandchildren; one aunt, Mrs. Veola Jordan of Mattapan, Massachusetts; on uncle, Mr. Willie Lewis of Birmingham, Alabama; one brother. Michael (Michelle) of Atlanta, Georgia; three sisters, Lillie Morri of Dorchester, Massachusetts, Martha (Joe) Williams of Cus eta. Georgia, Sandra (Vincent) Miller of Atlanta, Georgia; three sisters-in-law, Ann, Cathy and Dean; several nieces and nephews, especially Linda (Ray) and Alex (Amy) and Kristy; cousins, grand niece and grand nephews, friends and acquaintances. Ezell will be missed beyond measure. His love of food and "good food" were trade marks of his relationship with you. His culinary talents were exhibited in mouth watering dishes that not only tasted good but were also well presented.
Seven days before Ezell ' s death, Sand made a routine regular call to him. After the greeting, Ezell said to Sand... "Sand, things are not right here and I am leaving. I am going to a better hospital in seven (7) days." (Ezell repeated this several times.) Sand asked Ezell .. . "Who told you that you are leaving? When did they tell you this and where are going?" Ezell replied, "I am going to a "better hospital " in seven (7) days. and replied, "Ezell did you eat today; did you do dialysis today? Do you know you are in the hospital now?" Ezell replied.. "yes, I know where I am and I know who you are. You are Sand." I told Ezell, 1 will check with LaPorsha and call him back. I immediately texted LaPorsha asking her if she knew anything about her father being mo ed to a new hospital in seven (7) days. LaPorsha stated, "no" She and th caseworker were working on finding a place so that Ezell and Mac could be together but they had not talked to Ezell. LaPorsha immediately called the hospital and wa informed that no one had talked about moving Ezell. Well, the next six (6) days were ups and down , challenges, prayers and meditations as the Lord prepared u for Ezell' transition. On the seventh (7) day, Ezell responded to a higher calling, to a better hospital, to a better place of eternal rest on June 2. 2015 .
