On October 26, 1941 Imogene Malcom was born to Willie Clarence and Coley Mae Malcom in Atlanta, Georgia.
Imogene was educated in the DeKalb County School System at County Line Elementary in Ellenwood, Georgia. She went on to graduate from Hamilton High School in Scottdale, Georgia in 1959.
In July of 1963 she married the late Anthony Lee. To this union were born one son, Terry and three daughters, Sandra, Sherry and Dedrice.
Mter completing her education, Imogene started her career at The DeKalb County School System. She then moved on to Delta Airlines in March 1978 where she worked various positions. She retired in 1995.
Imogene then took 5 years off work. She returned to work for The DeKalb County School System as a bus driver and a cafeteria worker, "cooking- what she loved doing". She retired in 2012. She was a great cook known for her famous Sunday dinners with her children, family and friends. Imogene was always willing to offer any and every one a hot meal. She did catering for special occasions.
Imogene was an active member of "The Splendors Social & Savings Club" for over 40 years. She recently joined a Ladies only Birthday Club within the past 2 years. She was a very loving, kind and giving person. Traveling was her thing to do in her spare time. Imogene never met a slot machine she didn't like.
Imogene joined Bethlehem Baptist Church in Scottdale, Georgia at a very young age. Before departing this life she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Amen!
Imogene departed this life on March 31, 2014. She leaves to cherish her loving memory a son, Terry (Martha) Lee; daughters, Sandra (Kenneth) Perry, Sherry (Melvin) Caldwell, Dedrice (Bryant) Mellix; 10 grandchildren, Shanta (Sean) , Tommy Jr. , Terry Jr., Rapheal, Chelsea, Kelsea, Valeria, Jamari, Jamier and Kindle; great grand children, Harmony, Chaz and Jadeen; sisters, Doris Malcom and Barbara Jackson; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Lee and Theresa Lee ; brothers-in-law, Henry Joe Harris and Clarence Lee and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, Willie and Coley Malcom; Sisters, Jeanette Green, Marjorie Harris, and Dorothy Bryant; granddaughter, Shari Gartrell and sonin-law, 'Tommy Gartrell Sr.
