Perhaps you sent a lovely card, or sat quietly in a chair. Perhaps you sent a floral spray, if so, we saw it there. Perhaps you spoke the kindest words, as any friend could say. Perhaps you were not there at all, just thought of us that day.

Dolores Johnson Lawrence was born Dolores Elizabeth Hill on September 25, 1935 in Atlanta, Georgia to Mr. Robert Hill and Mrs. Agnes Thomas Hill. She was the older of two daughters born to the Hill family.
She attended Young Street Elementary School and graduated from David T. Howard High School. While at Howard High, she met her first husband, Richard S. Johnson. The couple was later married, and three years later, God blessed them with a son, RichardS. Johnson, Jr.
Having a desire to further her education, in 1958, Dolores enrolled in Spelman College while working full-time at S&W Cafeteria. She completed her degree and in 1963 went to work for Atlanta Public Schools as a High School Home Economics teacher.
She later met and married Raymond Lawrence. Dolores continued her education at Georgia State University by obtaining both a Masters Degree and a T6 Specialist Degree. She worked at various high schools in the Atlanta System and after 35 years of teaching, she retired from HarperArcher High School as Head of the Child Development Lab.
As a child, Dolores accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined Big Bethel AME Church. She later moved her membership to Cascade United Methodist Church where she remained until her death.
She was a very private person and made contributions to charitable organizations, among them United Way, Atlanta Union Mission, The Billy Graham Crusade and many others.
Dolores Johnson Lawrence was preceded in death by her parents, and both ex-husbands. She is lovingly survived by son, RichardS. Johnson, Jr.; sister, Betty Emory; two nephews, Edward "Sonny" (Cynthia) Emory, Ill and Darian Emory; two great-nephews, Nigel and Nicholas Emory; three first cousins, Carolyn Crawford, Janet Hicks and Patricia (AI) Swann; brother-inlaw, DanielL. Johnson, Jr.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
