Mrs. LaVata Jeannette Bridges Kite was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 18, 2016. Jeannette was born January 19, 1936 to the late Percy and Mary Frances Bridges. She married Buster Kite on January 6, 1970 and they were married 46 years. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Percy Bridges, Jr. and Henry T. Bridges, Sr., and two sisters, Willie Mae Simmons and Maxine Jackson.
Jeanette, was given the name of LaVata after her father's oldest sister..She grew up in a loving home in College Park. She often shared precious memories of their favorite prepared dinner of black-eyed peas and cornbread, but her favorite meal was cheese and eggs.
Jeannette attended College Park Elementary School and graduated from South Fulton High School, class of 1953. There she participated in extracurricular activities with a great love for reading.
Jeannette was employed by Grady Hospital in 1963. Jeannette's sister who also worked at Grady, had a significant influence in her life's career. During her 36 years of employment, Jeannette displayed the highest level of respect and commitment. She retired from Grady Hospital in 1999.
Jeannette and Buster loved to travel with family and friends to Myrtle Beach and also dine at their favorite local restaurants.
Mrs. Kite was a faithful member of the Christians for Change Baptist Church in College Park, Georgia. She served faithfully as a member of the Matron's Society, The Deaconess Board, Guardian Usher Board, Finance Committee and the CFC Bowling league. Jeannette also. became one of the initiator's of the Annual College Park Family Reunion.
She leaves a legacy of love and many precious memories of her life to a loving, supportive and patient husband, Buster; one sister, Sandra Bridges Elder; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
