He confessed a hope in Christ and was haptized at the age of tJ yl!ars old at M1. Tahor M.B. Church in Winterville. He lived in Chicago for 2l) years and spent 2 year~ in England, then moved to Atlanta where he remained until his dl!alh .
He a!ll!ndcd Riis and St. Dominic Elementary Schools and Wdls & Crane llit;ll Schools. Major knew no strangers, he loved and tried to help l!veryunc: he w:1s a very loving and dedicated son to his mother whn preceded llim in death .
At a very young age, Major wanted and loved to he in the spotlight of entertainment of some form. He went from hoxing to baseball, even put his age up and joined the U. S. Marines but decided that this wasn't it; so his mother had to show proof of his age to get him discharged . Major decided to try singing ror a career. he started singing spirituals and decided this wasn't moving fast enough and changed to R&B. His first recordings, "Hey Little Girl", " Delilah" and "Rhythm" were unsuccessful. In 1963, he recorded 'Monkey Time... His career skyrocketed and the name Major Lance was ranking with the most accomplished
or entertainers. Major was very popular on the dance lloor- entering the Harvest
Moon Festival Dance Contest-dancing on the Jim Lounsbury T.V. Show and American Bandstand, Major had finally fulfilled his dream, taking pleasure in making others happy. The last few weeks or his !i fe he had a desire to spend time wiU1 his family. On August 20 & 21, he joined the rest or the family on the Family Reunion in an overnight stay at the Wisconsin Dells. Because ur Major's love nf wit and humor, everyone in his presence had a wonderrultime.

Ronnie of California, Ronnie of Chicago, Darrian. Michael. Son Perry preced ed him in death. He also leaves sisters: Priscilla. luella, Katy. Gloria, Rosie. Bessie, Kay, Margo and Bertha. Sister Epsie preceded him in death. Brothers: Bruce. Syuire. Preston, Jr. Brother Charles preceded him in death. One aunt: Frankie; one uncle: Bill: nieces, nephews, relatives amt friends.
