Presiding, Pastor Willie Grooms

Pastor Leviticus A. Laing was born in Nassau Bahamas on August 15, 1954, to the late Leviticus Laing and Ada P. Laing. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbert Laing and Andrew Laing .
He attended St. John's College and the Bahamas University. He later graduated from Atlanta Christian College with a BS degree. Levi loved playing the piano, box guitar and bass guitar. He loved music of all kinds. He loved the Bob Marley song, "One Love". He even played in a rock band called the "Puppets" before he gave his life totally to Jesus Christ. God gave him the gift to preach and teach the Word of God and expound on it. He would constantly talk about the Word of God. Levi was truly a blessing to God's people during his life here on earth. He was an avid reader. He was also a wonderful husband, married for thirty-two years and praise God for every year. He was also an excellent father to our two sons.
He joined the Golden Gate Church of Christ at an early age, where he worked with Pastor & Sister James Redmond, Missionaries from Atlanta. After a few years in ministry and furthering his education at Atlanta Christian College, he met Rose Andrews in 1982 and married in 1984. He became Pastor of Cleveland Avenue Christian Church in 1990 where we later changed the name t9 Word of Life Christian Ministries (WOLCM). Word of Life family was his love - teaching and preaching the Word of God.
He worked as a Lab Assistant in the hospital for over 20 years, while serving full time in the ministry. He just loved the Lord. When he gave his life to Christ, he sold completely out to Christ. He applied the Word of God to everything he did in life.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Rose; three sons, Jordan Michael, Jonathan Christian and Jabari Alonzo Laing; one granddaughter, I'Asia Marie Laing; one uncle, Nthan Pinder (Bahamas); four sisters, Leanna Laing, Leotha L. LIFE IS A TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT
"For we were born only yesterday and know nothing, and our days on earth are but a shadow. "
"Show me, 0 LORD, my life's end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting is my life."
"Since you call on a Father who judges each man 's work impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear. "
"Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Th eir mind is on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ."
... "those who use the things ofthe world, as ifnot engrossed in them. For this world in its present form is passing away."
"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. "
"A ll these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are looking
for a country of their own. If they had been
thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opp ortunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country - a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, f or he has p repared a city for them. "
