Levi Elbert Jones, Sr., was born January 18, 1947 in George County of Lucedale, MS, and the third child to the late Mr. Levi and Mrs. Inez Jones. Levi was called home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, December 2, 2013 in Atlanta, Georgia leaving a 66/year legacy of broadening smiles, filling hearts and making spirited memories. A wonderful cook and a natural at entertaining friends and family.
In 1967, Levi graduated from Oak Grove Attendance Center in Lucedale, MS. In 1967, he entered the United States Army and proudly served his country in combat during the Vietnam War. In 1970, he began working for Ingalls Shipbuilding as an outside machinist and welder. Levi served as the union representative from 1973 to 1982 and moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1984. After moving to Atlanta, he was an entrepreneur. In 1997, he started working with the Fulton County School System until his retirement in 2012.
Levi was ordained as a deacon at Atlanta Metropolitan Cathedral on November 24, 1996 and ordained as a minister at Faith Unlimited Ministry Outreach in November 2005. Prior to going home to be with the Lord, he was an active member at Hope and Life Church in Snellville, Georgia.
Levi Jones, Sr. "Brother Levi" as he was so affectionately known, leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Earnestine Jones. He is the loving father of four sons: Edward, Levi Jr., Orlando, and Robert Qeanna); and eleven grandchildren. They were all his joy and he loved them unconditionally.
He also leaves to cherish his loving memory: four brothers and six sisters: Ret. SGT. Major Larry L (Eula), of Lucedale, MS, Paul W. (Barbara), of Gautier, MS, Hollis B. of Gautier, MS, and Barry C. of Lucedale, MS; and six sisters: Daisy M. Wortham of Wiggins, MS, Irene E. Williams of Macon, GA, Inez Moody (Barry) of Lucedale, MS, Mardria Mclemore Qohnny) of Moss Point, MS, Christy L Jones of Lucedale, MS and Paula D. Lett (Miller) of Moss Point, MS.
His fun/loving, kind/spirit and outgoing personality will also be missed by: his uncle, Andrew Jones; his aunt, Elizabeth Beard; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Levi Jones, Sr. is now gone from our sight, but not from our hearts, and even though the music of his life, as we know it, has stopped playing, the melodies of his loving memories live on in his wife, children, family, and friends. Levi will be truly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Recessional

"For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. If I am to live in the flesh, that means faithful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better." Philippians 1:21 /23
