Charlotte Haywood Jones was a Christian woman . She demonstrated her faith in God daily through her kind, warm, generous and loving ways to friends, family and support of her church. She truly knew the meaning of love.
She was the second daughter born to Mr. and Mrs. John (Catherine) Haywood in Rome, Georgia on July 1, 1944. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Phyllis Haywood Jones.
In her early youth , Charlotte joined the St. Paul A .M. E. Church, Rome, Georgia , and was an active member there until she relocated to Atlanta, Georgia to attend college. A graduate of Morris Brown College and Georgia State University, Charlotte earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and Masters degree in Elementary Education. She engaged in a successful career in education with the Atlanta Public School System for twenty-eight years. Having taught for a number of years, she was promoted to Program Assistant for Exceptional Children at C. W . Hill Elementary School , a position she held until her death.
Charlotte was joined in marriage to Herschel M. Jones for thirty-two years. She and Herschel were blessed with two daughters, Ida Hixon Brown and Carmen Jones. A loving wife and mother, Charlotte treasured the time spent cooking and making her home warm and loving for her family and friends.
She joined Cascade United Methodist Church in 1982 and served as Associate Lay Leader, Chairperson of Worship, Communion Steward, a member of the Membership Ministry, and the Women's Ensemble and New Advent Choirs. Charlotte loved her church and exemplified this devotion by her untiring Christian
service. Cherishing her memory are her loving husband, her daughters, both of Atlanta,
Georgia; two grandchildren, Angelica and Amelia; mother-in-law, Myrtle Jones, Atlanta, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Arrington and Mary Freeman, both of Atlanta, Georgia; three brothers-in-law, Robert Jones and Marvin Arrington, both of Atlanta, Georgia; and Thomas Jones, Kansas City, Kansas; three aunts, Mildred Wyley, Rome, Georgia; Wilma Hill and Mary Goodley, both of Cleveland, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other fam ily and friends.
God is good- all the time. All the time - God is good.
