Was born June 28, 1928, in Atlanta, Georgia to Forrest and Laura Kate Townsend.
Rosa Kate was the oldest of six children; Helen Green, Ayesha Jackson, Bernice Robinson (deceased), Vera Brisbane (deceased), and Forrest Townsend; all from Atlanta, Georgia.
Rosa graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1945, and was a graduate of the Class of 1949 from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia.
Rosa married the late Charles Johnson. To this union, a beautiful daughter was born, Lydia Ann Johnson (who went home to be with the Lord in December 2010). The three of them worked at the first black owned store in Atlanta, Georgia, in the 40's and SO's.
Rosa was a faithful member of Zion Hill Baptist Church for over 50 years and served on the Courtesy Guild Ministry.
Rosa worked many years at North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company, and retired in 1996. After her retirement from North Carolina Mutual, she served on the Board of Directors at Quality Living Service for several years. She was an active member of The Charmettes and the American Business Women's Association (ABWA), which she adored, and spent many years as a leader and mentor to many women .
Rosa made her transition on November 23, 2011. She leaves to cherish many memories her lovely granddaughter, Morgan Lovingood; sisters, Helen Green and Ayesha Jackson; brother, Forrest Townsend ; a close family friend and companion , Eddie Roy Myrick, and a host of relatives and friends.
