EVANGELIST OLIVE KIRVEN JOHNSON, 93, was born march 17, 1913 in Florence
County, the daughter of the late George Kirven and Nettie Groundson Kirven.
She was educated in Florence County and was a devoted homemaker.
She was married to the late Eddie R. Johnson. This union was blessed with sixeen children
of which five preceded her in their infancy.
She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age at St. Luke United Methodist Church, Sardis,
South Carolina. Late one night in her home she received the gift of the Holy Ghost. She always
felt that she needed more, she then joined Zion Temple Holiness Church, Timmonsville, SC
where she was baptized in the Name of Jesus and nurtured under the leadership of Pastor.Lena
May Lowery, Pastor Cleveland Johnson and presently Elder John Dixon.
During that time, she began sidewalk evangelist, missionary and prayer warrior to all man-
kind; known and unknown. Her desires were always to get clos r to God. EVANGELIST OLIVE
always had a testimony.
Her desire was to have a home place of her own. She ask the Lord to bless her with a
home and she would dedicate one room to Him. God did just that. He blessed her with that
home at 1500 Allegheny Ridge where the Prayer Room was founded and organized. The Prayer
Room is a refuge for the community and others in reverence and respect to God. Her favorite
Scriptures was: Psalm 34, Ecclesiastes and the 12th Chapter of lsiah.
She was also predeceased by her brothers: Roosevelt, Lawrence, Adam and Benson
Kirven; sisters, Essie Ham, Grace Jenkins and Gertrude Sommerville.
Due to her brief illness, God decided that "my child you have served your purpose he "n
earth, you have fed the hungry spiritually, physically and mentally. Through me you havt. -~
many, you mentored, you nurtured, you ran the race, you fought a good fight. Now its time for
you come and be with me, your Lord, your God."
Her caring nature allowed her to nurture and care for many children as if they were her own.
Many lives were touched by her guidance.
Those who remain to cherish her legacy and love are: eleven children Isaiah (Eula) Johnson
of Brooklyn, NY, George (Joan) Johnson of Newark, NJ, Nettie Lee (HarrylBurch of Florence,
SC, Joan (Henry) Baitz of Nashville, TN, Ollie (Marcella) Gist of Spartanburg, SC, Dora (Jerome)
Daniels of Buffalo, NY, Betty V. Johnson of Nashville, TN, James (Jeretta) Johnson of Timmons-
ville, SC, Phyllis (DaQQ_Y) Williams of Florence, SC, Gloria (Dallas) Brooks of Rosevale, NY and
Joseph Johnson ofFiorence~SC; a brother, Josh Kirven; two slsters-ln..law, Alice Thompson of
Portsmouth, VA and Ida Mae Wilson of Virginia Beach, VA; forty-seven grandchildren, sixty-
seven great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, a host of other dear relatives and
friends.
