_Reflections
"Well Done Thy Good and Faithful Servant"
The late Mother Laura Violet Johnson was the second of six children born to the late Colomb~ Hall Crooms, Mayor of Eatonville for 15 years, and the late Delilah J. Crooms. She was born in Eatonville, Florida where she resided for most of her life. She attended school in Eatonville. She
was joined in Holy Matrimony at a very early age to the late Mr. Willie
Johnson. Mother Johnson was raised up with the awareness of Jesus
Christ as Lord and Savior as she attended St. Lawrence A.M.E. Church,
Eatonville, Florida. She later joined the Church of God In Christ, Altamonte Springs, Florida, Pastor Elder Willie Wilson, where she accepted the Lord as her personal Savior and was truly filled with the Holy Spirit, thus dedicating her life to God. Joyful, yet feeling unfulfilled, she witnessed the preaching of the doctrine of the Apostolic Church of Jesus, Altamonte Springs, Florida by Pastor Elder William Davis and became a faithful member under his leadership and later under the
leadership of Elder Preston Rolle. As a licensed Missionary with a desire to win lost souls in her community, she ventured out to start a soul winning revival in Eatonville, Florida, which originated in the front yard of her home and continued in an old school building. From this revival evolved the church wherein today this great woman of God is being remembered in celebration. For truly it is worthy of celebration when we come face to face with God. Mother Johnson remained dedicated to God and faithful in the church, under the leadership of Elder Cleveland Clark, Jr., until her health began to deteriorate, still she held on to (;()d's hand and to his promises. It is believed that the last words spoken by this loving Mother were, " Jesus!
Jesus! No better help known to man!" She is remembered with much love ~y her family, for she gave much love. She leaves behind: A Beloved Stepmother, Mrs. Gertrude Crooms, Eatonville; Four loving Sisters, Mrs. Mamie Austin, Eatonville, Mrs. Alice DeJesus, Cambridge, MA, Elder Helen Freeman, Mattapan, MA, and Mrs. Malinda Rackard, Altamonte Springs; An adored Niece, Mrs. Helen Tomlinson, whom she raised and regarded as her own, Husband Arthur I.
