Delina Merle Johnson, affectionately and preferably known as "Dee," was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 2,1935 to Bedorsey Harvey and Alice Myrick Harvey. At an early age, she dedicated her life to Jesus Christ at Providence Baptist Church in Cleveland where her parents married, and where both she and her mother were active in the music ministries of the church. Dee's faith was a sustaining source of inspiration and guidance throughout her life, not only for herself, but for her family, extended family and friends.
After a full life of dedication to her husband, her children, grandchildren and extended family, she was called to eternal rest by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 9, 2015 at 11:43 p.m.
While a student at Kent State University, she met and married the love of her life, LTC Robert Allen Johnson, better known as "Bob" on December 1, 1954. Their 39 years of marriage (terminated only by his death) was full of traveling throughout the world, accompanying Bob in his career in the U.S. Army, and with Dee fully supportive of him in the Officer's Wives Association, of which she was often President. From their union came the fruit of their love and commitment: Anita Ann, David Allen, and Denise Michelle. Their other daughter, Terri Lynn, was born and buried in Paris, France.
As Dee was an only child, her life was ALL about family . Her discipline, dedication and determination were all focused on making life for her husband, children and grandchildren the absolute BEST that she could make it. When Dee gave it her "all" from somewhere deep within her, she would find the strength and the will to give even more. That was who she was, and that was how she lived. During her husband's 20 years of active Army service, Dee was the consummate officer's wife who accompanied him everywhere he went, except for his tours in Korea and Vietnam. During Bob's assignments, she lived in Ohio, France, New York, California, Maryland, Japan and South Carolina, and packed and moved the family 23 times!
In preparation for Bob's retirement from Ft. McPherson in 1977, they bought their very first home that wasn't government quarters or an apartment, on the corner of Sterling Forrest and Snapfinger Road in Decatur in 1975. For the first time in her married life, she decided it was time to take a job outside of the home and went to work for several companies before taking a position at the Department of Justice, U.S. Attorney's Office in the Financial Litigation Division in Atlanta. For her diligence in that position, she was recognized by then Attorney General, Janet Reno, for her exemplary service and attention to detail in saving the government thousands of dollars. She retired from that position in 1995 in order to take care of Bob.
Her passing leaves a void in the lives of her loved ones, but they all rest assured in the comfort of knowing that Dee is reunited at last with the love of her life for eternity, and singing with him in the Heavenly Chorus!
She leaves to mourn but not grieve: three children, Anita, David (Rhonda) and Denise (Maurice); three grandchildren, Allen, Tarilyn and Jacquez; three step-grandchildren, William (Kelly), Tristin, and Tauri Thomas; four great-grandchildren, Madison, Mackenzie, Macey and Phillip; Bob's sister, Patricia (Frank) Beane of Massillon, Ohio; nephews, Shareef (Myshan) and Adam Beane; great-nephew, Mansur; several cousins in St. Louis; many friends, former co-workers, and friends of her children.

TRIBUTE TO DEE JOHNSON
~ capable wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. The heart ofher husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack ofgain. She does him good, and not hann, aU the days ofher life. She seeks wool and flax, and works with willing hands . . . . She makes herself coverings; her clothing is fine linen and pwple. Her
husband is known in the city gates, taking his seat among the ender ofthe land .... Strength and dignity are her
clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. She op ens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching ofkindness is on her tongue. She looks weD to the m~ys ofher household, and does not eat the bread ofidleness. Her children rise up and caD her happy; her husband too, and he praises her: uMany women have done exceUently, but you
swpa.ss them all." Chann is deceitfiJJ, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised Give
her a share in the !mit ofherhands, and let her works praise her in the citygates. " - Proverbs3l: l0- l31 22-231 25- 3l [NRSV]
If I were there to Eulogize Dee, my title would be "All in the Family." Everything that Dee was, everything that Dee did, and everything that she hoped and aspired to be and do was about her family. She cared for her mother until the end, and she did the same for her beloved Bob. Her children, Anita, David and Denise were the motivation for the very breath that she breathed and every sacrifice that she gladly made. Her grandchildren brought her joy from their birth until the day God called her home to rest and be united with her beloved Bob.
As I was Bob's musical accompanist for over 15 years, we did many concerts and religious programs together. In everything that we did, including compose music together, Dee was "Quality Control," which meant that she had the last word on any performance. We could always count on her to be truthful, but loving. And that was the way she was with her children and grandchildren also, truthful and loving. Like the "Virtuous Women" depicted in Proverbs 31, she was (jar more p recious than jewels" ... and ((strength and dignity were her clothing. " ((She opened her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness was continually on her tongue. "
I will miss her wisdom, but the truth of her love will last me and all that she loved for eternity.

Yours in Christ' s Service,
