Barry Lorenzo Johnson was born in Rockingham County on July 16, 1953 to the late Ethel Mae Johnson. He was fatally injured in a motorcycle-truck collision on Friday evening, January 29, 1982, on Highway 87, south of Reidsville.
He was a graduate of Reidsville Senior High School, Class of 1971, a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of the American Legion, James Rudd Post No. 199. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church and its Senior Usher Board. Fraternally, he was affiliated with Lone Star Lodge No. 33 F. & A.M. (PHA), Reidsville Consistory No. 224, and Khalif Temple No. 144, A.E.A.O.N.M.S., Inc.
His immediate survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Earlene Totten Johnson of the home; two sons, Barry Lamar and Steven B. Johnson of the home; his stepfather, Haywood Johnson of Reidsville; two brothers, Carl and Stanley Johnson of Reidsville; his grandmother, Mrs. Lucinda Hopkins of Reidsville; many other relatives and friends.
