OBITUARY
Robert E. Jefferson Sr., the third child of the Rev. Robert Henry Jefferson and Mrs. Evalina Howley Jefferson, was born in Savannah, Georgia August 2, 1903.
Being the son of an A.M.E. Minister, he attended many elementary schools in the state of Georgia. His secondary education was received at Morris Brown High School. At an early age, he accepted Christ and was baptized by his father. When he came to Atlanta, he joined Big Bethel A.M .E. Church and served there until being encouraged by a dear friend, Charles Williams, to unite with Turner Monumental Church where he served faithfully and well in many capacities until his death.
He was employed at Emory Hospital where he worked for over 56 years, stopping only to serve his country as a Pullman Porter transporting troops all over the United States.
In 1941, he was united in holy matrimony with Emma Jackson and to this union was born four children--Robert Jr., Mirian, Carroll and Charles (deceased).
He departed this life Tuesday morning October 15, 1991 and leaves to mourn his passing a devoted wife-Emma, two sons-- Robert Jr. and Carroll R., one daughter--Nafeesah (Mirian), one sister--Elease Jefferson Culver, one brother--Carroll W. Jefferson, ll grand children, three great grand children, and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
When evening comes and the shadolvs fall And rhe one we love must answer the call, God, please give us strength in our hearts to say
