After a fulfilling and well-spent life, Mr. Thomas William James closed his eyes
and stepped into eternity early Tuesday morning, May 7, 2002.
homas was born May 9, 1937 to the late Minnie Lee James and Freddie Douglas James, Sr.. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Betty Joyce Barton on September 7, 1980. He joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Reverend Dinkins. He rededicated his life to Christ in 200 1.
Thomas retired from Lockheed Martin Company after 35 years of service. He served his community as a faithful member of the Hope House Board of Directors. He was a very strong and loving person, always willing to help.
In this mortal life he leaves many to mourn the full life he led: a loving wife, Betty; two sons, Vincent Keith James of ~1thirt Springs, and Taras William James of Cartersville; four daughters, Lynne A. Jackson (AJ) of Florida, Erica Rice (Tim) of Acworth, Melinda Riley (Reggie) and Tinsley James both of Cartersville; three brothers, Roy Lee Knowles (Mary) of Atlanta, Freddie Douglas James (Charlotte) of Kennesaw, and Ronald Dean James of Cartersville; three sisters, Shirley Ann . Clemmons (Frank) and Lois Jean Kellogg (James) of Acworth and Kathy Brown (Montana) of Cartersville; 11 grandchildren, Erin, LaToya, George III, LaShanta, Bishop, Stephen, Vincent II, Emmanuel, Jayla, Ashley and Amber: 1 great granddaughter, Taylor; 6 aunts, Hattie Mae Knowles and Cara Solomon of Emerson, Ruth Brown and Bessie Pierce of New York, Sara Freeman of Michigan, Leila Sloan of Cartersville and Louise Knowles; seven sisters in-law, Terrie Redding (Ralph), Louise Wells (James) and Marcia Barton of Cartersville, Martha McConnell (James) of Atlanta, Grace Grimes and Gladys Barton of Kingston, and Brenda Barton of Rome; two special friends, Harrison Dean and Donald Strickland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Godchildren and many, many cherished and unforgettable friends. Thank you God for sending your son to redeem us and thank you, Jesus for sacrificing your life for us. The reassurance of life after death is the greatest of comforts.
