THE MEASURE OF A MAN
Not - f--Io\v did he die? But - Ho\v did he live? Not- What did he gain? But- What did he give?
These are the things that measure the \VOrth Of a man as a man, regardless of birth.
Not- \Vhat was his station? But- had he a heart? And - J-Iow did he play his God-given part?
Was he ever ready with a vvord of good cheer? To bring back a smile, to banish a tear?
Not- What was his church? Not- What was his creed? But - Had he befriended those really in need?
ot - \Vha t did the sketch in the newspaper say? But - I--Iow many vvere sorry \Vhen he passed a\vay?
These are the things that measure the worth Of a man as a man, regardless of birth.

Postlude

c9M~
I'D LIKE THE MEMORY OF ME TO BE A HAPPY ONE.
I'D LIKE TO LEAVE AN AFTERGLOW OF SMILES WHEN LIFE IS DONE. I'D LIKE TO LEAVE AN ECHO
WHISPERING SOFTLY DOWN THE WAYS, OF HAPPY TIMES AND LAUGHING TIMES
AND BRIGHT AND SUNNY DAYS. I'D LIKE THE TEARS OF THOSE WHO GRIEVE ,
TO DRY BEFORE THE SUN OF HAPPY MEMORIES
THAT J LEAVE WHEN LIFE IS DONE.
