Celebration of Life
For
Janet Yvette Turnipseed Jackson was born on February 8, 1961, the second child of Wade J. Turnipseed and the late Marie Shivers Turnipseed. She departed this life on November 21, 2011.
Raised in a home where serving God was instilled at an early age, she accepted Christ at a young age at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, then pastored by the late Reverend P. J. Dotson. As little girls, she and her sisters, Gail and San, began singing together and ultimately, affectionately named their group the Sisters of Unity. God gifted them with the ability' to easily harmonize and automatically, Gail sang soprano, Jan sang tenor, and San sang alto. In 2000, she joined Love Fellowship Christian Church, under the leadership of Reverend
Darrell C Thomas, where she was an active leader of the Children's
Ministry and passionately loved and supported "her babies." On Sunday mornings you would find Jan singing with the Praise Team and The Inspirational Sounds of Praise Choir where she would get her praise on like no other. She was also a member of the Finance Committee and Benevolent Ministry.
r) Upon graduating from Frederick Douglass Fligh School in 1979, she ^ immediately obtained employment with Arby's, where she eventually
became a part of the management staff. Like Jan, her workplace was full of energy and excitement. As a manager, Jan expected her team to provide the best customer sendee; even teaching them to sing a song as customers entered and left the restaurant! Customers would ring a bell on the way out as a sign of receipt of good sendee. The bell is still ringing. She also worked tirelessly as an Avon representative with the same passion and work ethic that she displayed at Arby's!
Among the greatest joys in her life were her family, her church, gardening, cooking, planning holiday events and loving all the children that crossed her path. She treated every child as if they were her own.
She leaves to cherish her memory', three loving children, Walter L. Jackson, IV, Simonne G. Jackson and Jesse W. Ftilis; one very special godson, Kentavious T. Jeffries; her father, Wade J. Turnipseed; four sisters, Josephine Wyatt, Angela Allison, Malinda Gail (Anthony) Molock and Cassandra Marie Turnipseed; and a host of devoted aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family members, god-children and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marie Shivers Turnipseed; two sisters, Eleanor McGill and Mary Minnitee and two
brothers.

Holiday Planner, Auntie Sexy, T-Louise, and Mom,
Woman of God, Queen of Arby's, Sister, Daughter, she's the bomb!
Because she wears all of these hats, we say "Jan,you're on top!", She 'lljust turn, look atyou sideways and then she 'll say...
"Boy stop!"
Energetic, enigmatic, with a heart that's made of gold, Please don't let all of thisfoolyou, because Jan can getyou told!
Place one toe across the line, and the temper mayjustpop,
That's whenyou'd hear herfavorite cheer, she liked to say...
"Boy stop!"
Anythingyou'd need of her, she'dgraciously take the task. The only thingyou had to do, wasfixyour mouth to ask.
We need someone to clean the church, they'll have to use a mop,
Jan would step up to the plate, "Anything for God...Boy stop!"
If she had a weakness, it would be little children in despair, She dput her money where her mouth was, and take them infor care.
Some people ask, (Why get involved? You couldjust call a cop, "
She'dgive herfamous sideways look, and then she'd say...
"Boy stop!"
She was an SUV withfour wheel drive, nothing stopped this girl, Through sickness, pain and surgery, she strived to save the world!
Unable to walk, to serve her God, she climbed the altar stairs, When told she shouldn't stand and sing...
"Boy stop! Get me a chair!"
So on this special day ofyours, yourfamily givesyou due, We gather here to celebrate, the life Godgave toyou.

But God told me I couldn't stay
He reached for me with loving care. Now cityyour eyes
and remember me
For where I am was meant to be
To you that I have left behind
The love we've shared
will always bind. Until we meet again one day I've notgone far, I amjust away.
